Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Sail between towering cliffs and into the fjord-like Bay of Kotor, where ancient mountain hamlets are stuffed with World Heritage-listed villages and sublime beaches.
Snorkel the clearest water in the Mediterranean and cool off with daily swim stops at secluded coves and bays, whenever it takes the group's fancy.
Dine on some of the world’s freshest seafood. Grilled, fried and cooked to perfection in tiny waterfront restaurants where recipes have been perfected over generations.
From the winding walls leading to the Castle of San Giovanni in Kotor to the 15th-century Podmaine Monastery in Budva, this trip will surely delight amateur historians.
Enjoy a unique optional experience in Montenegro with a local family and sit down to a homecooked, homegrown three-course meal with unlimited wine and homemade grappa.
Is this trip right for you?
As most of this trip takes place on a sailing boat, you’ll need to feel comfortable with moving about the vessel, including using stairs. If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to bring some sea sickness tablets from home.
Our yachts have a small Zodiac on board, which is used to transport travellers to shore if we need to anchor in the bay. However, we will most often overnight in the small marinas on each island we visit, so the Zodiacs aren’t used. Zodiacs can sometimes be awkward to climb in and out of, but a sense of humour and a can-do attitude are all you need.
This is an adventure on board a real yacht, which means living spaces, cabins, bathrooms and showers need to be shared with other passengers. Sleeping quarters can be relatively compact, but you will spend most of your time on the deck, in the water or exploring on land.
Please note that smooth sailing is dependent on the weather, so itinerary changes may occur at the last minute if the weather becomes unfavourable. If any changes are made, you can trust in your knowledgeable skipper to choose an alternative route or activity.
If you’re travelling with your own group of friends or family and would like to book a private departure on this sailing trip, our Tailor-Made team will be happy to help: https://www.tuuur.com/tailor-made https://www.tuuur.com/tailor-made (https://www.tuuur.com/tailor-made)

Itinerary
Sail into the serene waters of the Bay of Kotor from Croatia to Montenegro
Rugged Adriatic Coast, ancient port cities and the sheltered waters of the Bay of Kotor make Montenegro a dreamy place for an eight-day sailing adventure. While neighbouring Croatia has long been a marine travel hotspot, Montenegro remains something of a hidden sailing gem. Spend several days exploring both the popular and the seldom-seen treasures of the Bay of Kotor and the Montenegro Coast. You’ll be lounging in a striped beach chair one day and tucking into fish chorba at a tiny local restaurant in a seaside village the next. This warm weather sailing tour is the ideal way to explore this Balkan beauty.

ACCOMMODATION ONBOARD THIS SAILING YACHT
This trip is accommodated entirely on board a 54ft monohull yacht. The following cabins are available to book on this yacht:
1 x triple bunk bed cabin
2 x twin bunk bed cabin
2 x double/twin cabin - bedding can be made up as either twin beds or one double bed.
If you are a couple and want a double bed, please book the double/twin cabin and let your sales agent know that you would like a double bed. Solo passengers can choose to book a triple bed cabin or a twin bed cabin and will be paired up with another passenger of the same gender. If you prefer your own cabin a single supplement can be applied to a twin cabin for an additional cost. Everyone including the skipper shares the bathrooms on board.
The yacht has 5 shared bathrooms. Our boats are real yachts, and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible. While not everyone may feel entirely comfortable living in such close quarters, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort from cramped living conditions is more than made up for by the whole experience.
PASSPORT DETAILS:
Please provide full passport details at time of booking including exact name as per passport, date of birth, nationality, issue and expiry dates as these are essential for booking services on this trip.
ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION:
Please note that the majority of our sailing trips start and/or finish at a marina or port. If you have pre-booked any additional accommodation through us, you will need to make your own way to the joining point on day 1 and from the finish point on the final day. We do not provide transfers between hotels and the port/marina. Please check the Essential Trip Information for details.
TRIP KITTY:
On this trip it's compulsory to contribute to a kitty of EUR100 per person. The kitty is an on-ground payment put into a central fund managed by travellers. It helps fund for breakfast and lunch on the boat and other small items such as ice, water, snacks and drinks. Travellers are responsible for the preparation of these meals onboard and to shop at port where supermarkets are often very close to the mooring. Kitty amounts are subject to change to reflect local price increases. On day 1, the skipper will talk through the kitty and how it will be managed (by yourself or fellow travellers) The kitty will be collected when you arrive at the welcome meeting or in stages throughout your trip.

This trip is fantastic. I traveled with my 15 year old daughter and we had the best time. The boat was comfortable, the itinerary varied and interesting and the highlight was the beautiful dinner with a welcoming and warm Croatian family who shared their history and delicious recipes with us! Wonderful memories made and new skills learnt. The scenery is breathtaking too.

Really cool way to travel! The scenery is just b e a u t i f u l, and I felt that there was a good mix of boat time and free time to explore the country. I was a first timer and felt pretty relaxed, but you need to be flexible and understanding to get the most out of this trip. You can’t control the weather, and the sleeping arrangements are tight. Skipper Ogi was super cool and knowledgeable. Thanks for a great trip!

This form of adventure travel was new to us and we were a little apprehensive about booking the trip on a 50 foot sailboat with 6 people we didn't know. Ultimately, we met some really nice people from different countries, shared all kinds of interesting stories, had lots of laughs and learned a great deal from them. We are looking forward to doing another trip next summer.

This is a great trip to get a taste of Croatia and Montenegro, experience life on a real sailboat, and see some beautiful scenery. The skipper was informative and flexible, and was always willing to accommodate our requests. The itinerary is varied and dynamic, without being rushed, and I really feel like I was able to learn a bit about this part of the world that wouldn't have been possible just coming on my own. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in seeing the Bay of Kotor and Dubrovnik from the sea.

A really relaxing trip which made me forget about the day to day worries of life and left me feeling truly free and content. The best trip I’ve made this year - sea, mountains, pure bliss.

I am happy for you to distill one from the above and send it to me for approval - I am under pressure now to finish this rather long questionnaire

Highly recommend this trip to Montenegro! Special thanks to our skipper Ognjen for his warm hospitality, insightful local knowledge, taking us to stunning swimming spots, suggesting fun activities and great restaurants, cooking a delicious goulash, and ensuring our safety throughout the adventure. Until next time, Hvala Puno! :)

Sailing is a great way to explore the Dalmatian islands. The skipper Ante is a very skilled sailor and I feel safe and enjoyed being in the water the whole time during the tour. Some modifications made from planned route due to bad weather was well communicated and we fully trusted his decision for safety reasons. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. As first time visitor to Dalmatia I recommend sailing as the best way to explore the region.
