Trip Informations
Discover the heart of Mexico's Aztec, Zapotec, Maya and Spanish cultures on this 15-day adventure. Start by experiencing the mix of influences that make up Mexico City, then head out to taste pasita in Puebla, visit the markets of Oaxaca and learn about the textile traditions of Teotitlan del Valle. Immerse yourself in pre-Hispanic culture in San Cristobal de las Casas and unravel the magnificent mystery of ancient civilisations during guided tours in Chichen Itza and Palenque. Sample the incredible cuisine along the way, sharing meals with the communities of San Pedro Tlahuac and Piste, then relax beachside at Playa del Carmen. This is the ideal introduction to one of North America's most colourful and exciting destinations.
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the stunning Maya temples of Palenque and stroll through Chichen Itza, with local experts at both sites explaining their storied history.
Visit the community of San Pedro Tlahuac, home to Nahuatl descendants, and enjoy a lunch made with produce picked fresh from a chinampa farm.
Wander market stalls, relax in public parks and sample the enticing Mexican eats of Mexico City, Puebla and Oaxaca.
Escape the Mexican heat in the highlands of San Cristobal de las Casas and explore surrounding villages where traditional customs and roots are thriving.
Share Yucatecan specialties with locals then finish off your journey in the beachside hub of Playa del Carmen.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip involves some long days of travel by private and local transport. While this can be tiring, it's also a fantastic way to rub shoulders with the locals and get under the skin of a place.
Mexico's climate is sultry and tropical, so can get really hot and humid. Wear loose clothing and make sure you stay hydrated, especially while out on walking tours. You can also expect to walk a lot and the terrain is rarely flat. Make sure to pack a jacket for the higher altitude cities like Mexico City, Puebla and San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Great tour and particularly a great guide Kei. The pace was good - a lot of bus rides but this was expected. Learned a lot

A tremendous introduction to Mexico, at a good pace, covering a fair bit of the country. As for extras, try seeing Lucha Libre wrestling and swimming in cenotes as they were tremendous fun.

Great tour which includes all the sights I was interested in. Transport was well-organized and hotels were basic but fine. The flexibility of the optional activities made it easy for me to make the trip as ruin-focused as I wanted to while others could choose to have more free time instead. Our tour leader Laura did a great job organizing these optionals - the jungle in Palenque was real highlight! - and the included activities - we had the best tacos on the entire trip with her during the taco crawl in Mexico City. I highly appreciated her restaurant recommendations and her help navigating Mexican cuisine with my nut allergy. Her heads-up for the long drives ahead was also helpful to manage expectations and plan ahead. I highly recommend this tour if you want to explore Mexico including the main sights but enjoy the flexibility to decide the day before if you want to include another optional or have a lazy day instead. Just one heads-up - if you want to extend your stay in the end, choose a different hotel in Playa del Carmen or Cancun as the last hotel was obviously just a convenient end point for people to catch the Ado bus the next morning.

An excellent, informative well-paced road trip in Mexico, ably led by our wonderful guide, Memo. Great variety including glorious Mexico City, colonial towns and historic houses alongside 3 breathtaking Mayan sites, rainforest, mountains and the Caribbean. Witnessing modern day Mayan Easter rituals in Chiapas was extraordinary. We absolutely loved the markets, music, margaritas and colours wherever we went. And incredible food.

This was the best trip I've ever done! Mexico is my most favorite country on earth and it was just wonderful to see more of this beautiful place, its wonderful people and its rich culture. Our tour leader Suz was outstanding. She is the kind of person who just has it all. The experience she was able to provide us was just exceptional. It was truly amazing. In addition, the people on this trip were very unique warm-hearted travelers with lots of humor. The true connection among each other that was formed during the trip I've never experienced on any other trip before. Beside making a bunch of new friends from all over the place I literally also met my future husband.

This trip provides a fantastic introduction to Mexico, from Mexico City to colonial towns, to archaeological ruins, and finally the beach at Playa del Carmen. We covered a lot of ground and packed in so many things, and our fabulous leader Karla kept everything moving smoothly. I learnt so much about this fascinating country and enjoyed every minute.
