Is this trip right for you?
verified
The Day of the Dead celebrations in Tlahuac are included in your itinerary! Additionally, Mexico City hosts a parade between late October and early November, though exact dates are not set until a few days before the event. If the Mexico City parade coincides with your trip, we may need to rearrange some activities so everyone can attend this parade as well. While we can't make guarantees due to the parade's unpredictable scheduling, we're committed to helping you experience both magical celebrations if timing allows.
verified
This itinerary is designed to provide the best possible experience of the annual Day of the Dead festivities around Mexico City. As such, there is very limited free time to explore the area’s most popular tourist attractions, including the Museum of Anthropology and Chapultepec Park. We recommend you stay a few extra days before or after the trip to make the most of this vibrant metropolis.
verified
We will be operating multiple departures of this trip so it’s possible that more than one group will be at some locations or activities at the same time. However, each group will have a maximum of 12 passengers with its own dedicated local leader.
verified
This trip visits places that are at high altitude, and as a result some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the Medical and health information section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
Itinerary
This cultural festival will have you spooked in all the right ways
Feel the mystical vibes of the weird and wonderful Dia de los Muertos, or the annual Day of the Dead festival, on this five-day cultural exploration of Mexico City. Wow- just wow!
My goal for this trip was to experience Mexico City with all of senses and this tour did it! I loved that this trip gave me a chance to experience Dia de Los Muertos in a way I’d never be able to do alone or with another group. Intrepid’s commitment to using locals in the cultural experiences really hit it out of the park and I left with such a full heart, new friends, and stories/pictures I can’t wait to show others!

This tour is an excellent way to become acquainted with Mexico City’s Dias de Muertos celebration. The accommodation is located in a central part of the city: close to the subway and walkable to many of the world’s best bars and restaurants (not to mention a quick Uber to the airport). The inclusions of Teotihuacan, the cemetery walkthrough, and the altar creation rounded out the interactive elements that were balanced by a little choose-your-own-adventure free time. A lot is packed in this trip so expect a full and fulfilling itinerary. Be sure to make time for Panaderia Rosetta for Pan de Muertos, and make a reservation at Handshake Bar for world class cocktails!
