Malaysia's Jungle Railway Adventure travels through the less touristy part of Malaysia. Snorkelling in the Perhentian Islands is wonderful - the water is so clear and I saw so many different fish (including a 2m black tip shark and huge Bump Head Wrasse) and some huge turtles. Time spent in Taman Negara National Park was another highlight, with an excellent trip up river through jungle. Due to some very recent itinerary changes, there is now less time spent on trains (which are mainly modern local trains) with one very long day of train travel changed to a private transfer. I booked this trip mainly because I love train travel, but the change makes sense and removes a 4am or 5am start on day 5 with 10 hours of train travel. Overall, a very interesting and enjoyable trip.

Malaysia's Jungle Railway Adventure highlighted the diversity of the Malaysian peninsula: rich history, cultures, foods, terrain, religions by including urban, rural, and remote settings. We saw how colonialism and an influx of workers from China and South India has influenced the nation. We experienced extra inclusions (snorkelling, trishaw ride, jungle night walk, batik painting, hawker food markets, water/light show, and more) that added even more depth to an already wonderfully full itinerary. Our leader Vicky ably kept us fed, safe, and informed as he led us on and off busses, trains, vans, boats, and through city streets, back alleys, train stations, and jungle paths. I highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to learn more about this diverse part of the world!

This trip was truly incredible! Malaysia is so beautiful. We ate amazing food, hiked to the top of a cave temple, swam with sharks, and much more! This trip was amazing in no small part thanks to our guide, Vicky, who was so knowledgeable, funny, and friendly.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Our guide Jason was amazing. The ‘jungle’ railway was interesting. It’s not just palm oil plantations if you actually look out the window and look around at train stations. The Perhentian Islands and snorkelling with sharks was fantastic. Taman Negara was well worth a visit. Thanks to our guide the food was varied wherever possible.

This tour is a wonderful adventure around Malaysia. The combination of varied scenery and fauna, rural and urban settings, active and cultural activities, historical and cultural insights, architecture and street art, and varied, delicious Asian cuisine means that there is something for everyone. This tour balances high-energy days jam-packed with activities with more leisurely travel days which let you relax, read, take in the scenery and discuss your travels with your guide and group from comfortable trains. Read the itinerary carefully, manage your expectations accordingly, pack light, embrace the opportunities from a fast-paced schedule (the early starts are worth it), and you won’t be disappointed. Listen to and trust your knowledgeable guide (thank you to our amazing guide Jason!) on recommended tweaks to this program as you will benefit from this new tour evolving. I had a delightful time on this Jungle Railway tour and am glad I chose this way to see Malaysia.

A great compilation of the highlights of the Malaysian Peninsula from the cities, to the islands, to the rainforests - there is something for everyone, all seen from the unique perspective of the railway through the countryside.

What a wonderful, fun trip generally off the beaten track with a fabulous leader (thanks Raj) and a marvellous group of people!

We all enjoyed the variety on the trip, there were some long days, but the highs were relaxing train journeys, snorkling with sharks, fish and turtles Taman Negara national park, Melaka and contrasting Singapore best bit was Raj our guide who ensured we saw the real Malaysia
