Is this trip right for you?
verified
A good level of fitness is required for this trip. You'll tackle challenging walks and treks, including the Small and Big Tsingy, with uneven terrain, scrambling, ladders and exposed sections.
verified
Several days involve long journeys on rough, often unsealed roads. Travel in Madagascar can be slow and physically tiring, and journey times may be significantly longer than those listed due to road conditions, weather, ferry crossings and other local factors.
verified
There are two nights of basic river camping. There are no bathroom or shower facilities, and it may not be possible to shower for up to three days.
verified
Accommodation in national parks and remote areas is simple. Expect limited amenities, including periods without Wi-Fi, air conditioning or reliable electricity.
verified
The Big Tsingy trek includes heights, suspended bridges, ladders and exposed drop-offs. Travellers with vertigo or a fear of heights may find this experience challenging.
verified
This trip can be paired with other adventures in Madagascar, which means some of your fellow travellers may carry on to further destinations at the end of this tour. If you’d like to spend more time in Madagascar, have a look at our combo tour, Madagascar in Depth (YBSCC).

An unforgettable way to experience Madagascar. From wildlife and extraordinary landscapes to our journey down the Tsiribihina River, every day offered something different. Our guide Bruno was knowledgeable, organised and great company throughout. A genuine adventure that gave us a real appreciation of this beautiful and fascinating island.

I would highly recommend this Madagascar Baobab trip to anyone. You will not be disappointed. Being an over 60 solo female traveller I was apprehensive about the camping, toilet facilities and some of the physical challenges. But I managed them all without a problem and even climbed the Great Tsingy! The guide Barnabas was excellent and there to support whenever needed. I was in a mixed group of eleven and we had great fun together. Madagascar is a beautiful country with warm, welcoming people and will leave you with many amazing memories!

Madagascar was so much more than I expected. What I thought was that I would see a few lemurs and rain forests, and that would be great, but that would be it. Intrepid and especially our guide Patric showed a wonderful world full of the unexpected. The boat ride on the villages, floating by the real world of Madagascar and visiting the villages was life altering. THe Tsingy was a out of world experience. The lemurs were of course a highlight, but just one of them, not the only one. Thanks for a great trip!

Absolutely fantastic trip. Yes, lots of time on a bus/boat, but a great way to see much of the countryside. Huge shout out to Barnabas for taking such good care of us! Kind of wish I had booked the full 24 day tour.

My trip to Madagascar, Baobab and Beyond. Was totally wonderful, we covered a large area of Madagascar mainly for me the Baobob trees and the lemurs. We got so much more. Various landscapes, productive and harsh environments. Up close to the people working and living they lives. And animals more than just Lemurs. Living on the barge for three day and camping on the sands in nature a total experience. Climbing strange rock formations, with a guiding hand exhilarating. This trip was soooo varied and AMAZING, just go for it. Xc

Amazing tour. Loved it all especially the barge trip and camping. Road trips are epic; nothing can prepare you for the roads in Madagascar. Australian bush roads are a dream in comparison. Loved the real life we saw and the friendly people.
