Trip Informations
Spend 10 unforgettable days in Kyrgyzstan as you trek along the western Tien Shan Mountain Range, follow nomad’s trails, spend nights in traditional yurts and take in the views of snow-capped mountains and alpine lakes. Journey through forests, canyons, meadows and more as you learn about this Central Asian country with a local leading the way.
Why you’ll love this trip
Trek through part of Kyrgyzstan’s mountain scenery – a trekking paradise with over 90% of the country covered by mountains. The Tien Shan Mountain range expands across China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, is often considered the alternative to the famous Swiss Alps
See stunning scenery every day – panoramas of alpine lakes, meadows, lush green pastures, fir tree forests and snowcapped mountains, with barely any tourists in sight.
Follow the nomad's trail along the way, making encounters with them, learning about their nomadic life and if you are lucky, you'll see some wildlife that call this area home, including golden eagles, mountain goats, deer, foxes and more.
Spend your nights away from modern civilisation listening to soothing crackling bonfires, staring into the Milky Way and tucking into peaceful camps in nature.
Lead by a IFMGA certified local leader with the expertise of a support crew, your trekking is made hassle free. Take your day pack on the trek and everything else from setting up the tents, cooking meals and transporting your luggage to the next stop are taken care of by your local crew.
Is this trip right for you?
This is trip spends time at altitude; you should refer to the Medical & Health Information for this trip to understand the risks.
It's best that you are able to trek for at least another 10- 20% than what's indicated on the itinerary in case of trail changes which are highly dependent on the weather and climate in the mountains.
Please refer to the packing advice in the Essential Trip Information for a detailed list of essential and recommended items to bring and get yourself prepared.
The overnight stays on the trek will be mostly in yurt camps and tents. Yurt camps will be multi-share (gender mixed) and the tents will be set up by your crew (you are always welcome to help) and will be twin share (single tents provided for single travellers). The conditions will be basic, with toilet tents set up separately and limited shower availability. We'll provide thin sleeping mats for the tent.
This trip doesn't spend a lot of time in Bishkek. If you would like to spend more time in Bishkek before or after your trip, please consult your booking agent about booking additional accommodation.

Great trek, in the wilds of the Tien Shan mountains. Climbed above 3000m on most days so was sometimes hard work but very rewarding. Well organised, Nikolai was an excellent guide and support team great, good food considering where we were! Spectacular scenery, alpine meadows, lakes and snow capped mountains, trekking amongst friendly local farmers herding cows and horses on horseback.

An epic, challenging and stunning trekking experience in a truly remote part of the world. We did not see another trekker throughout the journey. The landscape is diverse and truly magical. Nikolai and the crew were outstanding. Highly recommend this trip. Ensure you have suitable clothing and layers as the weather can change quickly.
