This is an overland trip so you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows which let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page: tuuur.com/au/africa/overland

There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

This trip can be partnered with other adventures into a ‘combo’, which means that some of your fellow travellers may carry on to further destinations at the end of this tour. If you’d like to spend more time in Africa, have a look at the combo itinerary: Experience Southern Africa (UBSCC)

2. This trip includes a mixture camping and other accommodation. While camping, tents, sleeping mats and sleeping bags will be provided and set up for you by our crew.
verified
3. On occasion, especially during the peak months of May to September and December we are not able to secure campsites within the Kruger National Park. In this instance we will camp at a backpackers outside the park.

4. Border crossing delays in the region have been sporadic and difficult to predict. What takes an hour one day may take four hours the next. This may affect the order of activities in the itinerary. We understand this uncertainty can be frustrating, and we strongly recommend packing a bit of patience and flexibility.

The Johannesburg to Vic Falls trip was incredible. There was a lot of driving but we were able to see 3 countries over 7 days. The guides/cook/driver on the trip were the best of the best. Our guide Daniel on the Kruger safari was able to find many desirable animals. Highly recommend, great experience that you would not regret.

I loved this trip! Got the chance to visit 3 different countries, learn about them, see many animals in the wild, and see different landscapes. Our guide Nathi was super fun, knowledgeable and always there to assist in whatever was needed.
The only downside was lots of driving - which is needed in order to cover such distances. My recommendation is take a book (if you can read on the bus) or download a couple of audiobooks for the road.

A proper adventure through Southern Africa. Some long travel days and occasionally basic accommodation but well worth it, a fantastic time with an awesome crew!

This trip was excellent but is not for everyone. It involves camping with sometimes minimal facilities, long days with early mornings, and requires some physical ability. That said, I wouldn't have it any other way. This trip was exactly the authentic and immersive experience of Africa I was hoping for.

Our trip was excellent, the leader driver and cook all set up our tents the first night but once we got the hang of the camping we all pitched in setting up tents doing dishes etc etc. We were all like a little family by the end. Would definitely recommend
