Trip Informations
Experience the diversity of southern Africa on a nine-day adventure that takes you to wildlife-rich game parks, idyllic beaches, wetlands and small villages, exploring with a local leader along the way. Search for lions in Kruger National Park, enjoy a bushwalk accompanied by members of the world's first all-female anti-poaching unit, relax on the sands of Cape Vidal and more. A mixture of included activities and free time make this tour perfect for travellers who want the benefit of on-the-ground local knowledge with some of the freedom of independent travel.
Why you’ll love this trip
Experience a once-in-a-lifetime chance to camp at the Black Mambas headquaters, the world's first all-female anti-poaching unit. Join them for a bush walk to search for snares and hear their inspiring stories around the campfire in the evening.
Go on an epic safari in search of lions, hyenas and more through Kruger National Park – one of the largest National Parks in southern Africa.
Go overland in a purpose-built truck and stop to take in geological wonders like Bourke’s Luck Potholes along the Panorama Route.
Experience St Lucia from a whole new perspective on a guided Boat Safari down this UNESCO-listed landmark.
Swap four wheels for two legs on a guided walking safari through the Hlane Royal National Park with an expert Swazi guide, keeping an eye out for antelopes and zebras passing by.
Is this trip right for you?
No two journeys in Africa are identical. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days. Be prepared for travel times to be longer or shorter than advised. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts, and unforgettable moments along the way.
This is a participatory overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visiting remote communities, setting up your own tent, occasionally roughing it in the bush with no facilities, and getting the best possible views of Africa's iconic wildlife. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows, which let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie. The day-to-day itinerary features a selection of optional activities. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is intended only as a guide. Prices are approximate and may change at the discretion of the local provider. All activities are subject to availability.
For your accommodation and campsites on your adventure, facilities do vary, and wi-fi is not always available. Accommodation upgrades are often available.
This trip can be partnered with other adventures into a ‘combo’, which means that some of your fellow travellers may carry on to further destinations at the end of this tour. If you’d like to spend more time in Africa, have a look at the combo itinerary: Kruger, Coast & Cape (UBOSC)

This trip was not the “camping” trip I had expected. When it said “camping” I expected to be roughing it out in the wilderness but was pleasantly surprised with how nice the facilities were at the camp site. Everything on the itinerary was beyond my expectations and I had a so much fun on this trip. This trip will hold a special place in my heart with all the memories I’ve made with my friends .

We had a wonderful time. Our crew and fellow travellers had us laughing all the time. The weather let us down in Kruger but these things happen. We had fantastic experiences: Mother hyena and cubs on a night drive, rhinos on a nature walk, a very large group of elephants on a drive. Highly recommend.

Travelling from Kruger NP to the coast gave a broad spectrum of experiences with wildlife and cultures. Our guide Teppi, came from this region and we loved her passion for it and her caring leadership.

Great adventure would better describe my Kruger Hlane and St Lucia safari than holiday. So many experiences, views that could only happen with this immersive trip. 24/7 sensory smorgasbord from Elephants, Hippos, Rhinos Giraffes Lions Hyenas zebra wildebeest buffalos birds porcupines a leopard and a honey badger. All under a clear sky and stars. Amazing
