Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip is designed for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group to share the experience with. The itinerary has plenty of free time where your leader will suggest optional activities. Please budget spending money for these activities and transport to and from them.
verified
Japan is best explored on foot and by public transport. You’ll need to be fit enough to spend most of each day on your feet and able to handle your luggage as you navigate busy train stations. We recommend comfortable shoes and packing light.
verified
In Tokyo, you’ll be able to experience a pod hostel. The facilities will be shared. Travellers on the same booking may be split between rooms due to the single gender floor arrangement for the stay in hostels.
verified
Double rooms in Japanese hotels can be smaller than you may be used to (e.g. 20 sq m). Every effort will be made to accommodate double room requests. However, during busy periods, there may be occasions when we are unable to offer a double room, so a twin room will be provided.

Wonderful immersive trip. Brilliant leader who showed us her Japan. Well paced and saw so much. Bring good walking shoes and be ready to enjoy it all. A good idea to do some preparatory reading to decide what to go in independent time but the leader had lots of ideas. Loved using subway, trams etc to go all over. Fabulous

Mami was an exceptional tour guide who made my first trip to Japan, easy and smooth in summer. I particularly loved going to a baseball game in Hiroshima, karaoke dinner in Osaka. Mami keep our group together on many different types of transportation in a very busy cities and there was no fuss. Thank you Mami and Intrepid. My third trip with Intrepid
