Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Many hotel rooms in Europe are not equipped with air-conditioning, and the cooling system on local trains can be broken on a regular basis. Note also that during peak holiday season beaches can be quite busy. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
verified
Hotel rooms in Europe can seem rather small by American or Australian standards and often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together.
verified
On this trip you must pack as lightly as possible because you will be expected to carry your own bag and although you won't be required to walk long distances with your luggage (max 30 minutes), we strongly recommend keeping the weight under 15 kg (33 lb). Most travellers carry their luggage in a backpack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice if you travel lightly. Smaller bags or backpacks with wheels are convenient although we recommend your bag has carry straps to accommodate the cobbled streets, uneven surfaces, stairs and steps you are likely to encounter while carrying your luggage. You'll also need a day pack/bag for daytrips.

Sicily is a gem to see and Intrepid ensure you experience the most interesting and engaging. The highlight for me was the Valley of the Temples and the building gs plus the excellent guide made this a trip and life delight. The anti- mafia tour in Palermo was excellent. The group was small which was wonderful. Great work to our guide Katia and to Intrepid.

This trip was awesome. What a whirlwind round Sicily! Our guide knew where to find the best and most amazing local food, we covered a range of towns and cities, each with its own special character. And there was free time to pursue our personal choices - mine was a boat trip and swim in the beautiful water off Syracuse along with some extra museum visits.

Katia, our guide and the whole intrepid experience was great. It was truly a ‘Highlights of Sicily’ that introduces you to the glorious aspects of this part of Italy and gets you comfortable with what you might want to come back and explore more of. But that being said, I feel like I got a great overview and understanding of both the ancient and modern history of Sicily, and what a wonderful and diverse place it is
