This trip involves some long train rides, including a couple of overnight trains. The train journeys from Delhi to Varanasi and Varanasi to Agra are is approximately 13 hours each. Sleeper trains are clean and air-conditioned and a great way to travel long distances while still getting maximum time in each place. Beds are padded berths with sheets, pillow and blanket provided (although some people prefer to bring their own sleeping sheet). Please note that you may be sharing with locals of other genders. For your own security, take a lock for your hand luggage. Sleeper train journeys in and out of Varanasi can be subject to long delays because of weather conditions, including heavy rain or fog. My recent Intrepid tour through India was absolutely brilliant. The itinerary was the perfect mix of iconic sights—from the ghats of the Ganges to the stunning palaces in Jaipur—and peaceful escapes into the quiet countryside. We experienced India like a local using a fantastic variety of transport: trains, buses, e-rickshaws, and jeeps. A huge shoutout to our tour leader, Pancham, who was brilliant in guiding us and ensuring everything ran smoothly. This trip hits the sweet spot—it’s not too posh, not too basic. Just a fabulous, authentic experience. Highly recommended!

For travelers who have never visited India before there is no better way to get a real ‘flavour’ of the country than booking on an Intrepid 11 Day Adventure Tour of Northern India -including Delhi, Varanasi, Agra and Jaipur. Highlights include the Taj Mahal, Amber Fort and Ganges boat trips.

I picked this trip because it went to veranasi in the 2 week period. I was initially nervous about the 'basix' tag, particularly the quality of hotels. Hotels were actually okay, they all had aircon and sheets and towels smelt clean which is the main thing. The itinerary was really well thought out and we had a few 'day use' hotel rooms to share when we had an overnight train so you could at least freshen up and shower before and after. I felt really safe on this tour and hit the major spots I wanted. I would recommend to someone who only has 2 weeks but wants to hit the main spots in Rajasthan and wants to also see veranasi.

This 11 day trip covered so much, it was busy but still gave you a little extra time too. Well organised & varied, as well as all the major attractions, Varanessi the Ganges is a must with added bonus of Tordi Garh a traditional village! You certainly feel you’ve seen the real India after this epic tour journey ing on Train, bus, Tuk, Tuk & car!
