Trip Informations
Journey between the cities, villages and desert of Rajasthan and gain a unique insight into the lives of Indian women. With an all-women group and local female leader, this 13-day expedition will immerse you in the culture and history of the region, as seen through the eyes of the women who live here. Starting in energetic Delhi, travel in the female-only carriage on the metro, then head out to the Thar Desert in jeeps to meet local women and enjoy a traditional Kalbeliya dance performance. In the village of Chandelao Garh, visit a project empowering female artisans and join an inspiring rickshaw tour of Jaipur with a female guide from the Pink City Rickshaw Co. This is India from a new perspective!
Why you’ll love this trip

Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip involves some long train journeys including one overnight train but entertaining chaiwalas, food vendors and conversations with local travellers make these unforgettable experiences. For your security, we recommend you take a lock for your hand luggage on the trains.
verified
While beautiful and atmospheric, our Thar Desert camp is very simple, with cots set up under the stars and very basic bathroom facilities. More details can be found on Day 5 of the itinerary.
verified
Don’t underestimate the weather at any time of year in India. In the summer months, the heat can be extreme. In winter, some travellers have been surprised by the cool evenings. A hat, sunscreen, and clothing that can be layered will serve you well year-round.
verified
You’ll visit several temples on this trip, which require a level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
verified
In extreme cases, long drives or trains can be delayed and occasionally cancelled due to heavy fog, but alternative arrangements will be made. Please see the transport section of the Essential Trip Information for details.

I had an amazing time on this trip. It was my first experience of India and so good to do it with a lovely warm group of women and a wonderful local tour leader, Vaishali. The variety of things we saw and did was excellent, and we packed so much into those 12 days! I especially enjoyed the visits to local women's homes, the Bollywood movie in that beautiful cinema and the optional Bollywood dance class (don't miss that, it was great fun!). The visit to Sheroes cafe in Agra was very moving.

This trip was an incredible way to learn about women’s culture in India. We saw all the sites and beautiful cities as well as spent a night in the desert. With every place enriched with hearing stories from local women. Our guide Vaishali was incredible and such a wealth of knowledge. She communicated clearly and ensured everyone’s individual needs were met. She was flexible with daily itinaries to support everyone’s requests and did a fantastic job. The itinerary allowed a good mix of included and optional activities as well as free time. 10/10 recommend this trip

Vaishali was the most warm and dedicated tour guide. From day one, she went above and beyond to make our lives easier and to ensure our trip went smoothly. She dedicated any free time to have individual conversations with all of the travellers to make us feel welcome and comfortable and catered to everyone’s wants and needs. I learnt so much from this trip because Vaishali was willing to share her life with us. Thank you Vaishali for being such a great tour guide and sharing your wisdom and expertise with us.

Our 13-day Women’s Expedition through Rajasthan was an unforgettable experience. From the vibrant streets and historic forts to the warmth of the local communities, every day brought something new and inspiring. Traveling with such a wonderful group of women made the journey even more special, creating a supportive and empowering atmosphere throughout the trip.
A huge highlight was our incredible guide, Ruchi, who looked after us all so thoughtfully from beginning to end. Her knowledge, kindness, and genuine care ensured everyone felt safe, welcomed, and fully immersed in the experience. She went above and beyond to make every moment memorable.
This expedition truly captured the spirit of adventure, connection, and discovery, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore Rajasthan together.

This was the most moving experience that I have ever had traveling. Our tour leader made sure that all of our experiences reflected the various dynamics of the culture of India. The experiences ranged from a camping night in the desert, lunch with women who had been victims of acid attacks, to an amazing upscale mall and movie theater. We also traveled by train, which allowed us to really be a part of India’s beautiful and remarkable culture!

The women’s expedition in India was a life changing experience for me. Sharing connection through the universal language of a smile with other women, filled my cup in a way I am unable to put into words.
Such a beautiful country and an amazing experience.

Book this trip with 100% confidence that this adventure will blow you away -
Such fun, so much to see and do, amazingly chaotic, culturally interesting, and enjoyable with the most diverse and interesting group of women. Wonderful leader, Tem, couldn’t be more helpful. Highlights - henna painting, Holi celebrations, movie night, monkeys, trains, astrology,, food, and the friendliest people I have ever met while travelling. Wish I could do it all again for the first time!
