Trip Informations
Leave the tourist track for an incredible trekking experience in Ladakh – from Delhi to Leh, you’ll hop on the Markha Valley trek and hike through almost untouched lands. Look out for wildlife like eagles, goats and the rare blue sheep and spend most days in the wilderness of this wild land, surrounded by the Himalayas. Camp almost every night under a night sky with no light pollution and meet warm locals who will give you a unique insight into their daily life. See mysterious ancient ruins, wander through Buddhist monasteries with incredible scenic views and tuck into some of the most delicious authentic cuisine in India – this is what you’ve been looking for in a trekking trip!
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the panoramic views of the Markha Valley on this remote trek popular with avid trekkers (due to its proximity to the mountainous city of Leh) and wander through Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and remote villages, backdropped by the Himalayas.
Tap into your leader’s local knowledge during your many discoveries around Leh – also known as Little Tibet or the Land of Lamas.
Enjoy fully supported camping with expert guides and support crew. Rub shoulders with the local villagers, known for their hospitality and warmth.
Spend a night in Nimaling – one of the most gorgeous high valleys in Ladakh, at 4800 m above sea level – and watch as the locals bring their herds of sheep, goats and yaks to graze in the summer.
Discover old ruins hidden on the hill tops of Markha Village. This shows the former importance of this ancient route and little is known about the origin of these ruins. Here, you might even spot a wild blue sheep on the slopes, or an eagle circling above!
Is this trip right for you?
This is trip spends time at altitude; you should refer to the Medical & Health Information for this trip to understand the risks.
This trip involves a full camping experience, giving you access to more remote destinations in close proximity and the joy of experiencing the elements. Expect two-person tents (single supplement available) and sleeping bag. Enjoy freshly cooked meals prepared by our support crew.

On this trip, we use internal flights between Delhi and Leh. We use safety-approved airlines, but please note, due to unfavorable weather conditions, these flights may be delayed, causing some interruptions and amendments to the itinerary.

An unforgettable adventure with Intrepid. Everything was well organised, authentic and thoughtfully planned. Our guide Madan was exceptional kind, knowledgeable, supportive and always there when we needed him. I would absolutely travel with Intrepid again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a meaningful and well-organised adventure.

The Ladakh trekking trip was fantastic. Madan helped to ensure a great trip and was so knowledgeable of the area and caring of the group. Some training will help with some of the long trekking days in this beautiful part of the world.

Madan was our team lead for the 2-week trip in Ladakh. I was not the fittest in the group but I managed to complete the trek and both team lead, Madan and guide, Dorje was ensuring we are well looked after without any judgement. Once we reached the highest altitude, there was a great sense of achievement. The view was breathtaking. I couldn’t recommend more if you wish for a physical challenge in a beautiful place with the crew that had build a safe space.

This is an amazing trip, above and beyond what you might expect. That goes for the food (so much, so good!), the guide (Maddy, amazing, enthusiastic, and consummate problem solver! And Dorji the local guide- also the best and most helpful), and Ladakh itself (beautiful, inspiring, awesome). However the above and beyond also goes for the altitude and exertion- be ready!!! The trekking is tough but rewarding and I’m so sad that it’s over!!! Also my group was also awesome - it was just a fantastic trip! If you are interested in this part of the world, love trekking/walking and are excited about the adventure- sign up!!!

The Ladakh trekking trip is for fit flexible people who can acclimatise to walking up to heights of 5200 mts in North Indian Himalayas. It includes fun stays in the city of Leh which is beautiful and relaxed couched at the base of rugged walks. The monasteries and rich cultural history of the area makes this trip very special because it involves a mind body challenge of the senses, in a group experience. I had plenty of time to have by myself but it does require your positive practical approach to be a part of a team going through a rather challenging experience. I'm 60 and I would say if you're this age or older, make sure you do alot of walking pre tour. The campaign experience is for practical no fuss types. It won't suit fussy needy folks. Or people with physical fitness challenges or fear or heights and hard walk days. You need to be ' nimble' and adaptable. Saying that, the food, support services, mental and physical support is there as / when required. Madan Singh our Guide was EXCELLENT 10/10. The hotels food and support/ supplies was 5 star. If you do this tour you just need to be pumped / ready/ strong/ and flexible to enjoy walking in the Himalayas. Not many people can say they've done that. So it's a Special tour to savour

Wow cannot recommend this trip highly enough. The mixture of trekking, scenery and engaging in local culture was beyond my expectation. To have an amazing guide with so much knowledge made the trip more enjoyable. I have now experienced intrepid trips three times now over the years and now as a senior person (67) I felt so comfortable and accepted and loved the company of different age groups and at no point felt left out.

This trek was the best thing I’ve ever done. It was so well organised, from the accomodations, flights, food and the camping. Truly a once in a lifetime experience that I could not recommend more. And Bhupesh was the best leader!!

Spectacular trek aided by fantastic guide and support crew. The trip was very well-organized and catered for, and blended the panoramic beauty of the valleys and mountains with community interaction, cultural education and eco-sensitive travel practices. The trek covers key mountain passes, sights, remote villages, homestays and wild camping sites.
