Why you’ll love this trip
Experience the character of Old Delhi on a rickshaw and walking tour, weaving through the narrow alleyways and exploring Delhi’s oldest mosque.
See the Taj Mahal up close and wonder at the intricate optical illusions that decorate the marble on this masterpiece of Indian architecture.
Tour the spectacular hillside Amber Fort and wonder at the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), where the walls are covered in a mosaic of reflective and coloured glass.
Take a break from bustling cities in rural Rajasthan, where you can catch your breath and spend the night in the faded opulence of your heritage stay.
Explore several of India’s must-see sights in just a week – this itinerary is perfect for people short on time, with long travel days kept to a minimum.
Is this trip right for you?
This compact trip packs a lot in. It’s the shortest Indian trip we run in this style, perfect for those with little time and a desire to do the most with it. If you are after a more leisurely trip in North India, enter trip code HHSC on our website.
India can get extremely hot in the summer. While we aim to do our walking tours early in the morning when it’s cooler, remember to keep water on you and to bring a hat, sunscreen, a long-sleeved shirt, and anything else that will protect you from the sun.
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. We visit several temples on this trip and to enter them you must have clothes that cover to wrists and below the knee.
We've sourced our accommodation carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel. Service and accommodation in India may be different from Western standards.

It was just a great introduction to India. Our leader was great with all aspects of our tour, including even providing super recommendations for places to eat and go for optional activities. I would go on a tour with her any time and any place!

We took the Golden Triangle 8 day tour with intrepid. Our tour was a great introduction to India. Our tour guide was fantastic. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The included activities were great and our guide was always very helpful with information about other places to see and restaurant ideas throughout the trip.

The Golden Triangle is a fascinating trip and intro to contemporary and historical India. Our guide Parul was friendly and positive throughout and guided the group through an intensive tour of Dehli, Jaipur and Agra, as well as our village stay. We visited great restaurants and had a super intro to Indian cuisine, guided by Parul. Nothing was too much trouble for our guide. Thanks for lovely trip.

The small-group (12) Intrepid tour of India was fantastic. The guide was delightful and well-informed, and the excellent local guides explained the historical figures behind the monuments.

I liked that going with a small tour group limited to 12, let us travel easily, not overwhelming the places we stopped to visit and eat. I like the responsible tourism of Intrepid. Not just visiting the famous sites, but learning about small local business that are impacting the places we visited - the knotted rug business that preserves the traditional skill in families, Sheroes, the cafes that help women injured in acid attacks, the Skih Temple that makes thousands of meals per day to feed the hungry. Our Trip Leader Parul Rana was knowledgeable and excellent in every way and our group of 12 strangers, became 12 friends.

The Golden Triangle was an incredible experience. It is action packed and you are certainly on the move but it gives you an incredible taste of India for a first time visitor. The city of Jaipur, Bollywood dance class, heritage stay and Taj Mahal were some personal highlights. Our guide Bhupesh was so friendly and knowledgable. I would absolutely recommend this trip.
