Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip takes you to a part of India rarely seen by travellers and is ideal for those who have been to India previously and are keen to explore more.
verified
You'll likely be of as much interest to the locals as they are to you – be prepared for plenty of selfies and conversations.
verified
We cover a lot of ground on this trip. There are some long travel days by train and van, including on winding mountain or bumpy local roads, particularly in Nagaland. It's not unusual for journeys to take longer than estimated and travel times to vary from one departure to the next.
verified
Parts of this trip travels to over 2000 m above sea level. It can get colder than you might expect in India, so make sure you check the weather at your time of travelling to help pack appropriately. Please bring a jacket and layers just in case.
Itinerary

Set off on a 16-day adventure through the wildlife reserves, wetlands and rambling mountain villages of northeastern India. The tour was well organized – it took us to regions in India that are less-travelled by foreigners. The culture, history, people, and landscape are fascinating. I felt I appreciate the diversity of India a little bit more. The accommodations were all clean and comfortable. The tour was a lot of fun & highly recommended. Tour leader Bhupesh is a seasoned professional; he is very knowledgeable about anything India; he kept everyone well informed of schedules & plans; Bhupesh was personable, energetic, funny, & demonstrated problem solving skills when we needed to change plans.

This trip is perfect for adventurers seeking a unique side of India, beyond the usual destinations. There is a lot of travel (bus and the overnight train) some of which are on hilly roads, but in return we experienced remote locations, mountains, tea plantations, wildlife, natural beauty, and distinct local cultures and food. Our guide, Bhupesh, shared his in-depth knowledge and connected us with local cultures and beliefs in a relatable way.
There is a lot of travel, as the different locations are far apart. But we were rewarded with mountains, plains, tea plantations, local communities and food very different from other parts of India, wildlife, and natural beauty.
Bhupesh, our guide, brought a detailed knowledge of the area, and an ability to bring the experiences of local people and their beliefs in an approachable way.

This is the unexpected and rarely visited India. The cultures, foods and environments are waiting to be discovered. Be amazed by Naga fierceness and Meghalaya ingenuity, nourished by the blending of Indian and Chinese foods and in awe from the grasslands of Kaziranga to the Himalayas of Sikkim.

This trip is for those who have seen the big sights of India and want to see life away from the tourists. Be prepared for the cold in the mountains and for being swamped by locals for photos.

Excellent trip with a real insight into life in a rarely travelled part of India. Wonderful food experiences. Our tour leader Bhupesh did a brilliant job in passing on his knowledge of the area with a great sense of humour tossed in too.

What an extraordinary adventure guided with inspiration by Bhupesh, who provided much perspective & context throughout that kept everyone’s curiosity burning. Quite a variety of special cultural moments, main streets & backstreets, low lands & mountain environments. 16 days went way too fast! Every minute was fun!
