Trip Informations
Travel to Peru to retrace the steps of the Incas – Peru's fascinating ancient civilisation. Travel from Cusco, through the fertile heartland of the Sacred Valley and to the magnificent Ollantaytambo ruins before the ultimate destination – Machu Picchu, one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World. This week-long trip is a choose-your-own-adventure type of deal – you can hike the Inca Trail, the Quarry Trail, or take it easy in Cusco and take the train to Machu Picchu. Allowing travellers of all abilities the opportunity to see this wonder first-hand, this trip is a perfect way to see Peru’s highlights when you don’t have more than a week.
Why you’ll love this trip
This trip allows both trekkers and non-trekkers to visit Machu Picchu – one of the magnificent Seven Wonders of the World, perched high in the Andes mountains – with scenic hiking trails and train options.
Adventure through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, known for the steep and soaring scenery, mystical significance and the Indigenous cultures that still reside here.
Visit a locally-run restaurant and cafe in Urubamba in the Sacred Valley that hires single mothers to support their children and the local community. Then, sit down to enjoy an organic, homemade beet cake with coffee.
Explore Cusco, South America's oldest continuously inhabited city. The city has ancient foundations, an interesting blend of Incan and Spanish influences and seemingly endless things to do and see.
Travel responsibly with the largest B Corp-certified operator on the Inca Trail. Since 2021, Tuuur has reduced its single use plastic on the Inca Trail by 90 per cent – this is The Tuuur Effect, and by joining this trek, you’ll play your part.
Is this trip right for you?
This is trip spends time at altitude; you should refer to the Medical & Health Information for this trip to understand the risks.
This trip involves a lot of walking to see the sites, and if you trek the Inca Trail or Quarry Trail, there'll be strenuous hiking. The trip is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Please bring comfortable footwear suitable to hiking. See the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
For those who trek the Inca Trail or Quarry Trail, you'll be camping with basic facilities. It's definitely the journey as well as the final destination (Machu Picchu) that makes this way of exploring Peru worthwhile.
According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations all visitors to Machu Picchu must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. We will do all that is possible to get everyone traveling in a group on the same route, but be aware that it is possible that members of the same group might be visiting Machu Picchu on a different circuit and not be together during this visit. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted.
Travellers who choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train), will not follow the same routes within Machu Picchu. This means that you may not be able to have photos together, overlooking Machu Picchu. This applies to travellers on the same booking or separate bookings.

If you are considering this trip…DO IT! Simply the best trip, company and staff. We have had the most amazing time, felt totally looked after and learned so much about the Incas and Peru. Our confidence has increased so much after completing the Inca Trail - an achievement I didn’t think I’d manage. Thank you to all of our guides and the whole team!

I had the time of my life on this trip. It was, by far, the best vacation I have ever taken. I absolutely loved visiting Cusco, the surrounding villages, and, of course, the unforgettable experience of Machu Picchu. Everything was exceptionally well organized—from the transportation and accommodations to all of the tickets and excursions. Every tour guide was knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of Peru. I will definitely recommend Inerpid to my friends and family. I also truly appreciate that your company supports local businesses and communities throughout the journey. That made the experience even more meaningful, and I think it's a wonderful part of what makes this tour so special. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

This trip was really one to remember. David our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made the trip a smooth and enjoyable experience. We completed the Quarry Trail which was very well organised and the attention to detail made sure everyone in the group was included and accommodated for.

Tour guide JP and Joel assistant tour guide were absolutely incredibly amazing. They both went above and beyond to make sure the whole group had a good time, were well instructed and informed and helped us to immerse in the culture of Peru. For me specifically I struggled with the Inca trail coming from sea level and adapting to the altitude, but both JP and Joel looked out for my safety and ensured I finished the Inca trail and still enjoyed it without worrying about anything else except soaking in pachamama. They both gave really awesome support and encouragement. Thank you so much for everything you all do for us travelers.

The Inca Trail made the entire experience. Every day brought incredible scenery, fascinating history, and a real sense of achievement. Reaching Machu Picchu on foot made the arrival even more special and unforgettable. Challenging, rewarding, and exceptionally well organised, it’s an adventure I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
