verified
Explore the greatest icon of ancient South America and one of the Seven Wonders of the World – Machu Picchu – on a guided tour.
verified
Experience the untouched, evergreen splendour of the Amazon Jungle. Explore rainforest trails with a local guide, looking out for monkeys, parrots and medicinal plants, then fall asleep in a lodge lit by candles and kerosene lamps.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip visits places that are at high altitude, and as a result some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the Medical and health information section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
verified
This trip involves a lot of walking to see the sites, and if you trek the Inca Trail or Quarry Trail, there'll be strenuous hiking. The trip is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Please bring comfortable footwear suitable to hiking. See the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
verified
For those who trek the Inca Trail or Quarry Trail, you'll be camping with basic facilities. It's definitely the journey as well as the final destination (Machu Picchu) that makes this way of exploring Peru worthwhile.
verified
According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations all visitors to Machu Picchu must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. We will do all that is possible to get everyone traveling in a group on the same route, but be aware that it is possible that members of the same group might be visiting Machu Picchu on a different circuit and not be together during this visit. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted.
verified
Travellers who choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train), will not follow the same routes within Machu Picchu. This means that you may not be able to have photos together, overlooking Machu Picchu. This applies to travellers on the same booking or separate bookings.
verified
Temperatures in the Amazon can fluctuate from daytime humidity to night-time chill. Insects, especially mosquitoes, are common. We recommend tropical-strength insect repellent and light cotton clothing that covers your arms and legs, with warmer layers for the evening.

Important notes
verified
1. Inca Trail permits are sold on a request basis only. Once a deposit is paid and passport details are provided, Tuuur will endeavour to secure a permit for you. If Inca Trail permits are unavailable, you can opt to hike the Quarry Trail instead
verified
or travel to Machu Picchu by train.
verified
2. Full passport details are required at the time of booking. These details must match the passport you will travel on. Mismatched details can lead to refusal of entry by the Inca authorities. Delays in providing this information may result in booking fees or changes to your itinerary.
verified
3. We will request an Inca Trail permit for you unless, at time of booking, you advise us that you wish to hike the Quarry Trail or take the train. Fees may apply to changes made after the time of booking, and availability on other options cannot be guaranteed.
verified
4. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Days 9 & 10 (Amazon Jungle) where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
verified
5. This trip starts at 2pm on Day 1.
verified
6.The Inca Trail closes in February to allow cleaning and restoration works. If the trek portion of your trip starts in February, you will be automatically booked to hike the Quarry Trail.
verified
7. According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations all visitors must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. For travellers who opted for the Quarry Trail and Train options we will endeavour to get everyone traveling in a group on the same circuit. Regardless of the circuit you will enjoy the beauty and grandeur of the site. Travellers completing the Inca Trail will enter Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate with a guided tour taking place on circuit 5.
verified
8. As you can choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train), you may be joined by other Tuuur and/or non-Tuuur travellers. There is also a small chance you may be the only traveller from your group on your selected option.

My Intrepid trip to Peru was incredible! They handled all the logistics, which were complex, enabling us to see Machu Picchu, the Amazon, Cusco, Lima and more in only 2 weeks! I want to do another tour ASAP!

I have an interest in Peruvian history and the Andes, which is why I wanted to visit, but my guide was able to point out the history in the landscape and give it context, as well as provide the most up to date information available. A font of knowledge!
Our guide Edwind really made the trip. He knew just when to be involved and when to give us some space. His knowledge is incredible and it is obvious that he is passionate about his culture and the environment. We learnt how locals have been able to see the landscape changing in a short amount of time.
It was a personal highlight to complete a challenging trek, and experience the EPIC Andes and Machu Picchu which no photo can ever do justice. Everywhere where you turn is another mind-blowing vista!
I'll never forget this trip.

This trip was full of highs and that is not only the high altitudes but natural environment, the culture of the people, the amazing relics of the past and the food and beverage and not only affordable but great value and always presented exceedingly well ( not to mention large portion sizes ) and great service. Thanks

I loved this tour and found it overall super well organized & exactly as described in the brochure. And if you're not an avid hiker/super fit, do the Quarry Trek! I managed it (barely), despite being a sedentary person (it was hard, no doubt, but I was proud of myself for making it without needing the horses). Make sure you take acetozolamide (Diamox) to prevent altitude sickness! Also: DO THE RAINFOREST ("Jungle Adventure"). You'll regret it if you don't. It was AMAZING (fishing for pirhanas! macaws, frogs, alligators, river otters---so much wildlife!).

Peru and Machu Picchu is on many folks' Life List. I say, go now! Intrepid has several tour choices and we loved ours. Intrepid gets you from Point A to Point B with tickets, passes, and breakfast (!) so you can relax and enjoy being there. I love that Intrepid builds in plenty of personal time to explore!

The Inca Trail trek was absolutely amazing. Every stage of the trip was perfectly organised.
Our group of the travellers consisted of different age and fitness levels, but we all made it safe and sound thank to the teamwork of the crew and our amazing leaders (Miguel and Louis).
I would highly recommend.
