Trip Informations
Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty and stunning scenery of the Dolomites on this eight-day small group hiking adventure. This trip offers a comfortable yet active way to enjoy this scenic region, surrounded by mountain peaks and green pastures. Base yourself in the scenic Italian town of Dobbiaco and spend each day exploring the Dolomite’s iconic backdrop of towering cliffs, lush hills and green lakes. With easy to moderate walks, conveniently located accommodation and a knowledgeable leader, this hiking adventure is filled with natural wonders.
Why you’ll love this trip
Revel in the beauty of the sheer rock walls, deep valleys and lush pastures of the Dolomites – a scenic mountainous area in the northern Italian Alps.
Base yourself at a charming hotel surrounded by parkland and native woods, within easy walking distance of the town of Dobbiaco.
Hike the Three Peaks of Lavaredo loop – a full day walk that’s widely regarded as the most scenic hike in the Dolomites.
See the Earth Pyramids of Platten – naturally formed earth towers which are the tallest and most perfectly shaped earth pyramids in Europe.
Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch featuring some of the region’s famous produce at the green pastures of Ampezzo Dolomites Natural Park.
Is this trip right for you?
The Dolomites boasts pleasantly warm weather, with hot summer days and possibly rain and thunderstorms on occasion. It can get cool in the evening throughout the year so bring warm clothes. Good walking clothing including waterproof wet weather gear and appropriate footwear are a must.
We will walk up to 14 km per day, with a maximum elevation gain of 800 m. You may wish to bring walking poles with you.
On Day 7 we will take a cable car ride from Versciacio to the start of our walk. The views will be stunning, but if you suffer from vertigo, you may feel slightly uncomfortable.
On this trip you must pack as lightly as possible because you will be expected to carry your own bag and although you won't be required to walk long distances with your luggage (max 30 minutes), we strongly recommend keeping the weight under 15 kg / 33 lb. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water and a camera for daytrips.

fantastic experience, the hikes were strenuous at times but really doable! We had fantastic weather, although some rain for 2 days. Definitely bring a good waterproof jacket and pack cover! Dobbiacio was a great base to stay in for the week. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent trip, highly recommend. Tour leader V went over & above to ensure the group got the most out of each location & experience. Mix of picture perfect alpine days and more dramatic weather. Challenging hikes, poles very useful. Pack for cold & wet just in case, mountain weather highly variable! Really fun group, stunning scenery, solid exercise, great food & drink, excellent tour… 5 stars!

An amazing trip. A mixture of first snow for the season than sunshine. Magda our magnificent leader, who was patient with all, gave us a great experience. I enjoyed it all.

This is an incredible tour to get a taste of what hiking in the Dolomites is - I can’t wait to be back and explore the rest of the region. Vincenzo was an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G your leader. There is a healthy mixture of hikes to ensure you get a taste of the different landscapes in the region - no walk is the same! Some hikes are more challenging than others, but all are really rewarding. I really liked how some days combined shorter walks with extra activities to get to know the other sides of the region - such as an afternoon in snazzy Cortina or an evening visit to a cheese factory followed by a cheese tasting!
