Trip Informations
Uncover the Alps in all their glory as you spend eight days hiking the iconic Tour du Mont Blanc. Following a circuit route from Chamonix in France, come face to face with dizzying peaks, glittering lakes and rolling pastures, passing through Switzerland and Italy on the way. Each day ends in charming accommodation, and your luggage will be transported for you to lighten the load. With a highly qualified International Mountain Leader as your guide who will not only ensure your safety, but also show you what makes this part of the world so special, you can focus on the gorgeous natural scenery!
Why you’ll love this trip
Spend a week of hiking to the backdrop of snow-capped peaks, lakes, glaciers and mountain pastures – the Tour du Mont Blanc is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most iconic and beautiful long-distance treks.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the view! Comfortable and clean hotels and lodges are included each night, offering hearty meals and truly magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
Take a load off – literally! Your luggage will be transferred between your accommodation each day, meaning you’ll only have to carry a day pack and your luggage will be waiting at your hotel.
Soak up the beautiful scenery of the French and Swiss Alps with a likeminded small group of travellers by your side – every day brings a new gorgeous landscape! Think mountains, cable cars, vast green landscapes and (hopefully) clear skies.
Focus on the hiking and the scenery, while someone else worries about the logistics. With an experienced and highly qualified International Mountain Leader by your side every step of the way, you can rest assured you’re in safe hands.
Is this trip right for you?
This is trip spends time at altitude; you should refer to the Medical & Health Information for this trip to understand the risks.
This is a hiking trip and some of the sections are demanding. You must be fit and in good health to join this trip. Please carefully read descriptions of all hikes in the day-to-day itinerary. If need be, please start preparing for this trip physically 4 to 6 weeks prior to your departure.
Be sure to bring the appropriate gear required for alpine hikes. See the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
Luggage transfer included is for 1 piece of luggage per person with a strict weight restriction of 9 kg and packed in a soft bag/duffle bag or a rucksack.
This is a point-to-point walking trip, allowing you to access remote and beautiful parts of the alps. However, this also means once you start a day’s walk, there’s no turning back – so be prepared!
On this trip you must pack as lightly as possible because you will be expected to carry your own bag and although you won't be required to walk long distances with your luggage (max 30 minutes), we strongly recommend keeping the weight under 15 kg (33 lb). Most travellers carry their luggage in a backpack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice if you travel lightly. You'll also need a day pack to carry water and a camera for daytrips.

This tour was an absolute dream. The stunning scenery was breath-taking and made for a much-needed break from the real world. Our guide, Danny, did an excellent job of guiding us through challenging areas while treating us to his passion and knowledge of the area along with his wonderful sense of humor. We ate incredibly well and slept in comfort.

Danny's walking tips, timely breaks, knowledge and humour made it possible to complete the walk safely and more easily than expected. Didn't stay in Champex-Lac or Courmayeur, however had time to stroll through both and instead stayed in small hamlets supporting local businesses.

The Tour du Mont Blanc was an incredible experience, it was well paced, physically rewarding, and constantly visually stunning. Each day brought completely different scenery, from dramatic high passes to lush alpine meadows and glacier‑carved valleys, which kept the whole journey feeling fresh and memorable. The organisation throughout the trip was excellent, and the group atmosphere added a lot to the experience. Danny contributed to this with his energy, knowledge of the Alps, and genuine enthusiasm for helping us get the most out of the trek. It’s a beautifully run trip that fully lives up to its reputation.

This was my first trip with Intrepid, and it certainly didn't disappoint. From the very first communication to the easy-to-use app, everything ran like clockwork, making the whole experience completely stress-free. The Tour du Mont Blanc was everything I'd hoped it would be and more. Our guide, Quinten, judged the pace perfectly, somehow managing to keep everyone together while making the climbs feel achievable and the stops well deserved. The hotels were varied but always comfortable, with cosy beds, good food, and, of course, spectacular mountain views. Additional travel was by taxi, Train, cable car and public bus. If I had one small suggestion, it would be the transfer into Bourg-Saint-Maurice. After a full day's hiking, squeezing onto a packed public bus and trying to stay upright as it wound its way around mountain roads felt like an unexpected extra activity my legs hadn't signed up for! A private transfer would have been a much more comfortable option. That said, it's a very minor point in what was otherwise a first-class hiking holiday. I finished the trek with tired legs, a camera full of incredible scenery, and memories that will last a lifetime. I wouldn't hesitate to travel with Intrepid again.

I really enjoyed this trip. It is physically challenging (especially in the heat) but the views more than make up for it.

I just completed Tour du Mont Blanc to celebrate my 70th birthday and was a little concerned about how arduous it would be. I found myself in a lovely group of supportive people with a tour guide that taught me so much about the area and about hiking technique in general. He ensured it was a positive experience for everyone. And so many laughs! An absolutely exhilarating and unforgettable holiday with scenery that left me in awe every day!

if you’re thinking about doing this trip, then I would suggest you do it. I will say the fitness level is definitely 5/5 ! The views and surroundings and clean air are stunning. The hotels you stay in are lovely. No need to pack a towel or shower gel. The plushest way I’ve ever done a trek. Definitely recommend. 👍🏼🤩

A fantastic way to complete the Tour du Mont Blanc hike with logistics and accommodation taken care of! We enjoyed the challenging hiking - be prepared for 6 long days and lots of ascent/descent - with a group of like-minded people from around the world, a knowledgeable local guide and some breath-taking scenery amongst incredible landscapes.
