Trip Informations
Join an eight-day adventure through the best of Scotland and find yourself standing before ancient castles that guard misty lochs and on stunning cliffs overlooking waterfalls. Starting in the vibrant streets of Glasgow, you’ll explore cobblestone streets and lush, grassy landscapes. Learn tales of battle and folklore when you visit the mythological Loch Ness, historic Inverness and the Isle of Skye. Then, end your journey in Edinburgh, where the UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval Old Town and neoclassical New Town sit in contrast. With an ideal balance of small-group adventure and free time to explore independently, this journey through Scotland will leave you captivated.
Why you’ll love this trip
Embark on a world-famous train journey through the Highlands via the renowned West Highland Railway, including a crossing of the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct.
Discover Fort William, where you'll relish views of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak. Then, join your leader on an optional hike to the summit of Cow Hill for panoramic views of Glen Nevis.
Take a private bus tour of the captivating Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. Make stops at the pinnacle of the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock – a dramatic 90-m-tall sea cliff with views of Mealt Falls.
Set out on a scenic boat excursion across the folklore-filled waters of Loch Ness, then travel north to the Highland capital of Inverness.
Go on a walking tour of Edinburgh guided by a local guide from Invisible Cities – a social enterprise that provides locals who have experienced homelessness with employment.
Is this trip right for you?
• This trip requires a reasonable level of fitness. Please keep your luggage as small and light as possible. You'll be travelling on public transport where storage space is limited. You'll need to be able to lift your luggage into storage racks, walk across cobblestone streets with it and carry it up and down stairs. If you feel you would prefer a taxi, please speak with your group leader. Taxis are not included in the trip cost. Please be mindful of the remoteness of the locations for availability and wait times. Some hotels do not have elevators or lifts so carrying your own baggage upstairs may be required.
The hike in Fort William is moderate and includes some stops. The terrain may be uneven or wet. You may opt out of this activity should you wish.
The walking tour in Edinburgh takes around 3 hours including stops. Edinburgh is a hilly city with narrow cobbled streets and steps. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Should you have any reason to feel that you may not be able to partake in any of the activities or need additional assistance or support, please let us know as soon as possible so we can help.

A great trip thru the beauty of the Scottish highlands amidst the long history of the Scottish people. Cities, landscapes, scotch whiskey, and food. Wonderful way to familiarize yourself with this part of the world.

Highlights of Scotland, was one long highlight, that went far too quickly. Every corner turned would take your breath away. I’ve never seen such a variety of beauty, from the immense landscapes, the grandeur and serenity of the cities to the warmth and kindness of the people. T’was more than a hoot, and greater than good craic!

We enjoyed our Intrepid small group tour of Scotland. For us, it was the perfect mix of active, small group eco-friendly travel while allowing for time to enjoy our holiday as a couple. We were able to experience so much more than if we'd tried to plan out everything ourselves.

This was a fantastic trip. It was equal parts beauty, activity, learning, and down time. My favorite parts were the Isle of Skye and the Highlands. Our leader Steph was very skilled at making everyone feel welcome and a part of the group, which is so important. The trip exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be taking another trip with Steph in the future.

This trip is a great quick summary of Scotland and shows off its best spots. It has a steady pace and you can participate in as much or as little as you like (e.g. go on a cool hike in the highlands or lounge out by the fireplace in a pub with a whisky). Our guide Sophie was phenomenal and our all girls group had a lot of fun over the week!
