Trip Informations
Join an eight-day adventure through the best of Scotland and find yourself standing before ancient castles that guard misty lochs and on stunning cliffs overlooking waterfalls. Starting in the vibrant streets of Glasgow, you’ll explore cobblestone streets and lush, grassy landscapes. Learn tales of battle and folklore when you visit the mythological Loch Ness, historic Inverness and the Isle of Skye. Then, end your journey in Edinburgh, where the UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval Old Town and neoclassical New Town sit in contrast. With an ideal balance of small-group adventure and free time to explore independently, this journey through Scotland will leave you captivated.
Why you’ll love this trip
Embark on a world-famous train journey through the Highlands via the renowned West Highland Railway, including a crossing of the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct.
Discover Fort William, where you'll relish views of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak. Then, join your leader on an optional hike to the summit of Cow Hill for panoramic views of Glen Nevis.
Take a private bus tour of the captivating Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. Make stops at the pinnacle of the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock – a dramatic 90-m-tall sea cliff with views of Mealt Falls.
Set out on a scenic boat excursion across the folklore-filled waters of Loch Ness, then travel north to the Highland capital of Inverness.
Go on a walking tour of Edinburgh guided by a local guide from Invisible Cities – a social enterprise that provides locals who have experienced homelessness with employment.

This whirlwind tour of Scotland is amazing. You experience the big cities (Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh) but also the smaller areas too (Fort William, Glenfinnian, Isle of Skye and Loch Ness). Love the small 12 person groups - I came away with 11 new friends! Our tour leader was very knowledgeable and fun. She gave us great suggestions for our free time. I highly recommend this tour.

Highlights of Scotland was my first solo trip. The variety of hikes, tours, and transportation with a small group is why I chose this trip. Graham was a knowledgeable trip leader and the extra hikes were fantastic. It was great to travel with like minded people and support local businesses. It was a trip I won't forget.

What an amazing trip! From exploring the Highlands and tasting Scotch whisky, to (hopefully) spotting the Loch Ness Monster, savoring Scottish salmon and sweets, and ending the day with a beer and live music at a local pub — it was all unforgettable. Such a perfect introduction to the Highlands with Intrepid, made even better by our fantastic tour leader. Thanks so much, Graham!

My husband and I were not keen to drive around the UK. This tour definitely covered that by using trains. My husband first pick for transportation. We packed about 14 kg in each luggage. I would strongly advice not to bring any more weight than 14kg. Or 2 suitcases. It is extremely hard to move on trains with heavy luggage. The weather was prefect but it is cold. We went in September but the weather was cold. Make sure you bring enough layers on clothing to keep you warm. The accommodation was good. You need to have good fitness level.

Highlights of Scotland was just that. As a first time visitor to Scotland I felt the trip covered a lot and gave a real taste of the beautiful Highlands and culture I want to go back and experience more!
