Trip Informations
Join a 22-day adventure from the lush waterways of Botswana to the vast desert landscapes of Namibia. Paddle through the Okavango Delta, watch elephants wading along the Chobe River and search for giraffes, zebras and more in Etosha National Park. Track rhinos on foot near the Waterberg Plateau, discover ancient rock carvings at Twyfelfontein and take in the granite peaks of Spitzkoppe. Then, journey into the Namib Desert to see the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and ancient camel thorn trees of Deadvlei. Get crafty at a living museum where you’ll learn about the Indigenous Khwe community and have a sunset picnic overlooking the Moon Landscape – these are landscapes and cultural encounters you’ll never forget.

Seek out pods of hippos wallowing in the waters and surround yourself with abundant birdlife on a river cruise through Chobe National Park.

Search for rhinos in a private nature reserve at the foot of the Waterberg Plateau. Accompanied by experienced trackers, you might also see other wildlife like oryx, red hartebeest, kudu and giraffes.

Witness the rugged, lunar-like Moon Landscape at sunset. Enjoy a picnic as you watch the sky change colour, then stay after dark for an evening of desert stargazing.
verified
Spend a full day on safari in Etosha National Park, exploring the park’s vast landscapes and waterholes in search of elephants, lions, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and other iconic African wildlife.

This itinerary features some long travel days, which can be exacerbated by bumpy African roads. Please review the approximate durations of travel listed throughout the itinerary.

Namibian summer (November to March) can be very hot and humid, with maximum temperatures around 30 to 35°C and peaks of over 40°C in the desert. Botswana temperatures rise in the hot, dry period of September and October before the rains hit, and temperatures can get as high as 34 to 38°C. Not all accommodation will have air conditioning, which is quite common across Africa, particularly in remote locations where lodges or camps operate on solar power or generators.

Botswana is a very seasonal destination. What you see and experience can differ quite dramatically depending on the time of year you visit. Please consider this before you choose your departure date. See the 'Climate and Seasonal' section in the Essential Trip Information for more details.

As the early bird catches the worm, the early riser sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

3. Border crossing delays in the region have been sporadic and difficult to predict. What takes an hour one day may take four hours the next. This may affect the order of activities in the itinerary. We understand this uncertainty can be frustrating, and we strongly recommend packing a bit of patience and flexibility.
