Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Travel through three of Central Europe’s big cities – Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Join your local leader on walking tours of each city, visit landmarks and enjoy free time to explore at your own pace.
Explore Prague Castle – the largest castle complex in the world, where you’ll learn about the history of the UNESCO monument and Czechia’s capital city.
Toast to your epic adventure with a home-cooked Hungarian feast on your last night. Be invited into a local family's home, learn traditional recipes and enjoy these dishes for dinner!
Join a local guide in the south Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov and discover the town’s history and thriving folk culture.
Visit Vollpension in Vienna – a cafe working to bridge the age gap and provide extra income for seniors by employing grandparents to bake and serve sweet treats.
Is this trip right for you?
We recommend packing light and smart for this trip as you'll have to carry your own luggage through train stations and to hotels. This can include going up and down multiple flights of stairs and across uneven cobblestones.
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40 C/105 F). Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability for that season.
The accommodation we use in Cesky Krumlov is full of character and perfectly represents the spirit of a medieval central European town. This means that the comfort level may be slightly lower compared to the rest of the accommodation used on this trip, however the rustic charm makes up for this.
Itinerary
From medieval castles to riverside promenades, discover the highlights of Central Europe
Travel through the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary on this eight-day Central Europe adventure. Explore the Prague Castle complex in Prague – a UNESCO monument and the largest castle complex in the world. Then, visit Vollpension Cafe in Vienna, known for its sweet delicacies baked by grandparents who work to provide extra income for seniors. Learn about the folk culture in Cesky Krumlov – a UNESCO World Heritage centre – and discover why Budapest is known as the ‘City of Spas.’ End your adventure in gorgeous Budapest, where you’ll join a local family in their home for a Hungarian cooking class and cheers to your final night.

Excellent short first exposure to Central Europe. Leader Michael was excellent. Cesky Krumlov was a gem. Wish I went longer as too much to see. Learned from the other group members. Great accomodations and transportation. Intrepid is the way to travel.

This was a bucket list trip for me and Intrepid delivered!! Our tour guide Lilla was outstanding and kept us engaged and had so many suggestions for our free time!! Loved our meals together as a group. Favorite part was our last night together at our Hungarian cooking class!! Just a great trip, with a great tour guide, wonderful new travel friends, to a beautiful part of Europe. Thank you, lilla and Intrepid

This trip was a great look into Central Europe - glad to have gotten a comprehensive history of each city in correlation with each other and now I know the ins and outs of how to navigate the public transportation! Word of caution - pack light if you can and note there will be a lot of cobblestone!

I had the best time on my trip through Central Europe! The hotels were in good central locations with friendly staff and a selection of food at breakfast. The included activities were really fun, especially our cooking class in Budapest and "coffee & cake experience" in Vienna. Appreciated the use of public transport throughout; felt more environmentally friendly. Our tour leader Lilla was amazing, her passion and enthusiasm for travel & people is 5-star. Would 100% book another Intrepid trip, if I knew Lilla would be my tour leader again - missing her already!

This trip far exceeded my expectations! It was a great way to get a flavor of each city. The food was incredible and our guide Barni was so knowledgeable. This was my first trip with Intrepid and I am already planning my next. Highly recommend.

This was a great way to see the highlights, Prague and Budapest with the added bonus of travelling to Ceszky Krumlov. I would recommend, if possible, taking a few extra days at each end and check out some of the options not covered.
