Why you’ll love this trip
Travel through three of Central Europe’s big cities – Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Join your local leader on walking tours of each city, visit landmarks and enjoy free time to explore at your own pace.
Explore Prague Castle – the largest castle complex in the world, where you’ll learn about the history of the UNESCO monument and Czechia’s capital city.
Toast to your epic adventure with a home-cooked Hungarian feast on your last night. Be invited into a local host’s home, learn traditional recipes and enjoy the dishes for dinner!
Join a local guide in the south Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov and discover the town’s history and thriving folk culture.
Visit Vollpension in Vienna – a cafe working to bridge the age gap and provide extra income for seniors by employing grandparents to bake and serve sweet treats.
Is this trip right for you?
We recommend packing light and smart for this trip as you'll have to carry your own luggage through train stations and to hotels. This can include going up and down multiple flights of stairs and across uneven cobblestones.
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40 C/105 F). Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability for that season.
The accommodation we use in Cesky Krumlov is full of character and perfectly represents the spirit of a medieval central European town. This means that the comfort level may be slightly lower compared to the rest of the accommodation used on this trip, however the rustic charm makes up for this.

The trip had a great balance between organised visits to important sites and sufficient free time to explore on your own. The selection of attractions visited and activities was varied and captured the essence of the cities visited. The guide Lilla was a standout being very personable, organised and knowledgeable in the three countries visited

This was my third Intrepid tour, and each one has been amazing! Everything felt organized, and the activities and guides were so informative and fun. Our leader Lilla was sweet, organized, and made the trip so special. I loved the group, the culture, and the experience!

I loved being in a small tour with a great mix of scheduled things and free time. This was my first Intrepid trip, it definetly won’t be my last!

Really good appetizer of a trip to Central Europe! This was my first time travelling from Canada to Europe and I really enjoyed myself. We had a great group and leader (Vanessa) who made travelling between countries a breeze. Good mix of independent and group time. Vanessa was quick to offer solid recommendations and respond to us when we had questions. Made the experience of travelling solo to Europe very positive and comfortable! Highly recommend to solo female travellers who want to enjoy a trip without the hassle of coordinating transport. I can’t wait for the next one and now feel more confident returning to book another either through Intrepid or independently.

What an amazing little trip this was. There was lots to see & do in these beautiful countries it almost felt like it went by way too quick, but that's what happens when you're having fun, time flys by. Would love to go back to any of these countries to see more in the future.

Central Europe is such a gem! Lilla led our group of 12 seamlessly though Prague, Vienna, and Budapest teaching us and sharing her passion for these places and for responsible tourism along the way. Really enjoyed this trip, made many wonderful memories, and am already looking forward to my next Intrepid trip!! Tip for this itinerary:: pack light!!

Excellent short first exposure to Central Europe. Leader Michael was excellent. Cesky Krumlov was a gem. Wish I went longer as too much to see. Learned from the other group members. Great accomodations and transportation. Intrepid is the way to travel.
