Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Walk through Azerbaijan's Old Town, where views of the Palace of the Shirvanshahs are made even more spectacular by the modern skyscrapers in the background.
Hike to the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church, which sits in splendid isolation at 2170 m in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains.
Be treated to Azerbaijan's national dish Piti and stop at a traditional Georgian wine producer where the ancient, UNESCO-listed qvevri method is still used.
Navigate the organised chaos of the farmers markets in Telavi. Your leader will be there to help you order as much fresh fruit, nuts or pigs heads as you desire.
Connect with locals and gain an insight into everyday life in this part of the world – you'll visit the Udi community in Nij, learn the traditional methods of copper craftsmanship in Lahij, appreciate stained-glass artistry in Sheki and share a meal with locals in Kvareli.
Is this trip right for you?
There’s so much to see in this part of the world and we don't want you to miss anything. The itinerary is densely packed, but there will be the odd free afternoon or evening to explore at your own pace. Please read the itinerary carefully to determine if this will suit you.
Some of the best scenery in the region is found on foot. So, while this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it’s essential to be at least moderately fit if you want to partake in all activities. Make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes with good support.
This trip has a strong historical focus and is perfect for anyone with an interest in the Caucasus region. Even if you know nothing about the area, you’re bound to find yourself fascinated by the various political and social machinations that have shaped the area.
If you enjoy experiencing new food, good wine and breathtaking scenery then this is the right trip for you, keep in mind that altitudes can be high (over 2000m) so even in summer a sweater is a good idea.
If you would like to further explore the region, please check out our 20-day trip 'Azerbaijan & Georgia Experience' (trip code:KFSGC) or 'Azerbaijan, Georgia & Armenia Adventure' (trip code:KFSBC).

This trip was really well laid out and our guide Anton was fantastic. I didn’t know much about this region before I left for the trip and I learned so much about the vibrant history and culture in the Caucasus. Really enjoyed the hike to Gergeti church! I would definitely recommend this itinerary for someone interested in exploring this part of the world!

Loved this trip! Had a good variety of things to see and do including modern Baku, mud volcanoes, interesting architecture, stunning mountain scenery and lovely wineries. Georgia and Azerbaijan are both very interesting and beautiful countries and I loved seeing the contrasts in them both. Our tour leader Ani was incredible! So helpful, knowledgeable and fun. She made our holiday the best it could be.

Excellent trip if you want to get a taste of the Caucasus region but short on time. From big cities to tiny villages, from deserts to mountains this trip has it all.

This chance to explore the Caucasus has been a revelation. The stunning landscapes, complex history, architecture, languages and alphabets, as well as the delicious food and wine, have been a pleasure to get to know. Not to mention the lively company. I am very glad I came along.

An excellent introduction to both countries. We ranged from major cities to teensy, secluded villages with an excellent range of activities to truly experience.

Azerbaijan and Georgia are just beautiful, and our leader Zurab was fantastic. I loved the small group size, great food and mix of activities. With plenty of free time and thoughtful recommendations, it never felt like a “tour” - more like a shared experience, often without another tourist in sight!
