Why you’ll love this trip
Walk through Azerbaijan's Old Town, where views of the Palace of the Shirvanshahs are made even more spectacular by the modern skyscrapers in the background.
Hike to the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church, which sits in splendid isolation at 2170 m in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains.
Be treated to Azerbaijan's national dish Piti and stop at a traditional Georgian wine producer where the ancient, UNESCO-listed qvevri method is still used.
Navigate the organised chaos of the farmers markets in Telavi. Your leader will be there to help you order as much fresh fruit, nuts or pigs heads as you desire.
Connect with locals and gain an insight into everyday life in this part of the world – you'll visit the Udi community in Nij, learn the traditional methods of copper craftsmanship in Lahij, appreciate stained-glass artistry in Sheki and share a meal with locals in Kvareli.
Is this trip right for you?
There’s so much to see in this part of the world and we don't want you to miss anything. The itinerary is densely packed, but there will be the odd free afternoon or evening to explore at your own pace. Please read the itinerary carefully to determine if this will suit you.
Some of the best scenery in the region is found on foot. So, while this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it’s essential to be at least moderately fit if you want to partake in all activities. Make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes with good support.
This trip has a strong historical focus and is perfect for anyone with an interest in the Caucasus region. Even if you know nothing about the area, you’re bound to find yourself fascinated by the various political and social machinations that have shaped the area.
If you enjoy experiencing new food, good wine and breathtaking scenery then this is the right trip for you, keep in mind that altitudes can be high (over 2000m) so even in summer a sweater is a good idea.
If you would like to further explore the region, please check out our 20-day trip 'Azerbaijan & Georgia Experience' (trip code:KFSGC) or 'Azerbaijan, Georgia & Armenia Adventure' (trip code:KFSBC).

Exploring the Caucasus with an amazing group of people was the BEST experience. Our guide, Manya, was full of knowledge and enthusiasm. Personal highlights were some of the exceptional meals we had in Georgia, as well as the hiking day.

The trip was amazing, we experienced so much more than we would've without a guide. Manya was the perfect guide and allowed us to explore and fully enjoy the beautiful region. The wine tastings and hiking were a highlight for me. Would definitely recommend!

I had a fantastic tour through Azerbaijan and Georgia and a big part of that was thanks to our tour leader, Zurab. He was incredibly friendly, always up for a laugh, knowledgeable, organised and always made sure things ran smoothly throughout the trip. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring two new countries I knew little about - it was the perfect mix of culture, history and stunning landscapes. The group was great and the itinerary hit all the highlights, and I came away with so many great memories. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting an authentic and stress free travel experience!

Great insight into countries less well travelled in central Asia; plenty of inclusions; lots of variety including workshops, visits to markets, places of worship, hikes, villages, lots of great food to try; relaxed tour with no early starts-a good contrast of 2 neighbouring countries

Lucky to have exceptionally well organised, enthusiastic passionate guide Giorgi. Who shared is knowledge and love of his country, and the region. The group bonded well under his stewardship. Couldn't have hoped for a better guide.
