There are several orientation walks and city tours during this trip, so there will be quite a lot of walking. It’s important to always bring plenty of water, wear comfortable walking shoes and ensure you use adequate sun protection. Wearing layers is a good way to tackle the heat.

The facilities are basic at your homestay on Lake Titicaca. While creature comforts are few and far between while you're there, many travellers find the experience a rewarding one.

According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations all visitors to Machu Picchu must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. We will do all that is possible to get everyone traveling in a group on the same route, but be aware that it is possible that members of the same group might be visiting Machu Picchu on a different circuit and not be together during this visit. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted.
Itinerary
From Lima to Rio, take an epic journey through the highlights of South America
On this 18-day discovery, you’ll hike through the Inca heartlands, uncover the history of Machu Picchu and stay with a local family on the shores of Titicaca in Peru. Explore the pulsing streets of Buenos Aires and soak up the tropical vibes of the Ibera Wetlands in Argentina, then top it all off in vibrant Rio with beach strolls, local markets and a visit to the Christ the Redeemer for good measure. If you’re looking for a trip that hits not one, but two New Wonders of the World, this is it.

I recommend this trip which covers so much in a fairly short time. There is a lot of travelling however it’s well worth the early starts and effort because you get to see so many amazing things.

Amazing trip that was worth every dollar. I’m glad I didn’t research too much and just went because I was blown away by the whole trip.
Hopefully you get Kike in Peru as he is an amazing tour guide and made the experience so much more amazing!
Can’t wait to return to South America!

Had the most amazing 18 days with Intrepid (Peru, Argentina and Brazil), have made life long friends and have knocked 3 things off the bucket list! I never felt unsafe once and enjoyed not being stressed about how to get somewhere. Can’t wait for another trip in a year or two ❤️

As a couple in our mid 60’s we were apprehensive about travelling to South America. Intrepid Holidays took away all of our worries. The holidays was great, the tours ran like clockwork and we saw all of the magnificent sites. Our two Intrepid guides Alessandra and Pedro was outstanding, they were knowledgeable, kind, funny and caring people. All of this delivered with a social conscience.
We would recommend Intrepid tours

This was our first Intrepid trip and we loved it
It took away the stress of organising a trip in a region we were unfamiliar with
the tour guides were excellent and I won’t hesitate to go on another trip with Intrepid
