Trip Informations
Set off on a 5-day adventure through the rugged and dramatic landscapes of the Faroe Islands. From land and sea, look out over the archipelago’s floating lakes, towering cliffs and waterfalls. Interspersed with the impressive views, this trip includes moments to meet locals and get an up-close look at island life. Sit down for a personal dining experience called Heimablidni, where visitors are invited to locals’ tables. Tour a regional farm, then eat in the farmstead operated by the same family since centuries (literarily!). You’ll tick off the well-loved sights, but your local leader will show you so much more.
Why you’ll love this trip
Wander the streets of Torshavn with a local who’ll guide you around the turf roofs, cliffside forts and record shops, stopping for home-baked treats along the way.
Explore the Faroe Islands’ well-loved sights with visits to the valley village of Gjogv, Trælanipa lake and the sea-faring stone giants, Rising og Kellingin.
Discover Faroese farm life before sitting down to a regional dining experience, known as Heimablidni, where you’ll eat in the company of local people.
See the archipelago from a different angle on a boat tour around Bordoy Island, home to the grand Klakkur Mountain Ridge and traditional Northern Isles fishing villages.
Dine in a traditional timber building dating back more than 900 years and explore their collection of relics from the continuously lived-in farmstead.
Is this trip right for you?
The weather plays a pivotal part in this adventure and although there’s an itinerary in place, there are no guarantees that you’ll be able to do everything that is planned for. A level of flexibility and openness to embracing the unexpected are important in expedition travel, especially to such a remote area.
The Faroe Islands can be an expensive destination in many ways, due to their remoteness. Your leader will be able to advise on how to save money.
This is a centre-based trip, which means you’ll stay in the same accommodation each night and leave each day for day trips. You’ll be able to enjoy the same room and not need to pack and unpack for other overnight stops.

An excellent little trip our leader went to extra lengths to help when our flights were delayed. The trip locations included all the important locations and was a good introduction to the Faroe Islands

Faroe Islands - off the beaten track but GO!. Remote, green, cool and wet and very interesting. Not as expensive in country as you think.

A most enjoyable trip, with an attentive guide, local driver and excellent accommodation. All fitness levels catered for. None of the walks lasted more than 3 hours, so you do not need to be particularly athletic. Able to walk at your own pace.

I loved Faroe Islands! It is a good outdoors experience, just be prepared for any weather. Don't attemp Mt Slaettaratindur unless you are a serious uphill hiker. But embrace the experience, the people, the culture, it is beautiful. And keep it a secret, unspoilt place, I'd hate to see it over-touristed.
