Trip Informations
Take Sri Lanka, boil it like the tea leaves the country’s famous for and strain out all the best stuff. On this 11-day trip, you’ll travel through natural paradise, small, friendly villages and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Search for elephants in Udawalawe National Park and walk to the top of Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress. Feast on spicy curry prepared by a local in Ella and hike through lush mountains. Relax on the beach in Hiriketiya – perfect for lounging and sipping cocktails – and do it all with a new group of friends!

verified
This trip puts the power in your hands – there’s tonnes of free time for optional activities, so you’ll have plenty of freedom to decide what you want to do.
verified
The journey from Ella to Udawalawe takes a winding road down the mountains to the coast, which means the drive can feel a little slow. But don't worry, it also means that you’ll get to see the awesome scenery from literally every angle.
verified
Some temples on this trip require your head to be uncovered when visiting. You can opt out of temple visits if this requirement doesn't suit you.

Important notes
verified
1. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
verified
2. The Perahera Festival is a 10-day period of evening processions to honour the Sacred Tooth, which is enshrined at Kandy's Temple of the Tooth. Each night features thousands of perfomers, including dancers, drummers, and a parade of more than 50 decorated elephants. Due to Intrepid's stance on elephant cruelty we do not visit the Perahera Festival and cannot purchase tickets on your behalf.
verified
3. Please provide your full name and passport number exactly as it appears on your passport at the time of booking (including any middle names listed on your passport). If we do not receive your passport details in time, we cannot guarantee your train journey. Fees may apply for adding or amending details within 45 days of departure, and in some cases, you will be required to cover the cost of issuing a new ticket. Train tickets are in very high demand in Sri Lanka. We always try our best to secure tickets, but if we cannot book them, you will continue your journey by private vehicle.

4. Due to the impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, some train lines are currently unavailable, including the train from Kandy to Ella. Where train services are unable to run, we’ll arrange a private vehicle so your adventure can continue without interruption.

Our tour was amazing! The people, accommodation, our tour guide, the food and our itinerary was brilliant. I travelled by myself and met someone to continue travelling with afterwards with on my tour. I think this is the best way to visit Sri Lanka.

Great trip and great value. Fits it so many activities! Group size of 16 doesn’t feel too big or small. Very comfortable tour bus with very friendly driver and assistant. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful! I don’t think we would have managed to fit in so much otherwise! All the hotels were fine and very clean (just had a few issues with hot water).

An excellent tour with a great variety of activities. Sri Lanka offers beautiful views, great food, and exciting wildlife! A tip for when in Hiriketiya: try to visit Dickwella Bay Beach (approx 10 min tuktuk ride) for one of your days here as it is much quieter and you can snorkel with turtles straight off the beach!

Fab guide Janith. He made Sri Lanka very special and I have some great memories for life. The itinerary of the trip was fabulous you see local life, have adventure, hikes, see jungle, see mountains see the beaches. Honestly great activities. The cooking class was probably my favourite add on.
