2. The Perahera Festival is a 10-day period of evening processions to honour the Sacred Tooth, which is enshrined at Kandy's Temple of the Tooth. Each night features thousands of perfomers, including dancers, drummers, and a parade of more than 50 decorated elephants. Due to Intrepid's stance on elephant cruelty we do not visit the Perahera Festival and cannot purchase tickets on your behalf.

3. Please provide your full name and passport number exactly as it appears on your passport at the time of booking (including any middle names listed on your passport). If we do not receive your passport details in time, we cannot guarantee your train journey. Fees may apply for adding or amending details within 45 days of departure, and in some cases, you will be required to cover the cost of issuing a new ticket. I had a great experience on the tour, Tiran our guide was excellent, and I felt safe throughout the whole trip as a solo female traveller
The itinerary was very busy but we fit in lots of sightseeing very efficiently

My Essential Sri Lanka 18-35s tour was everything I wanted and more. We got to see the highlights of Sri Lanka, cover a fair chunk of the country and experience a taste of what Sri Lanka has to offer - from the mountains to the beach, safaris and the food. My group was a nice size, allowing us to get to know each other in the 11 days we had, Tiran our trip leader was knowlegable and added to the trip.

The itinerary was the perfect mix of sightseeing, exploring the towns and ensuring we had free time to relax. Our guide, Rohan, was an absolute legend and made the experience what it was. Great way to see Sri Lanka in a short amount of time. Rohan was the best trip leader and ensured we all had a great time despite having different interests in the group!

I recently completed the Essential Sri Lanka tour and wanted to share some feedback, particularly on our guide Chamodi, who was outstanding throughout the trip.
Chamodi’s knowledge of Sri Lanka—its culture, history, and everyday life—added tremendous depth to the experience. She consistently prioritised safety and made sure everyone felt comfortable, supported, and well looked after. Her local insight was invaluable, and she went above and beyond in small but meaningful ways, such as buying local snacks and drinks for the group on long travel days, which was incredibly thoughtful and appreciated.
One of the absolute highlights of my entire trip was the Ella hike on Boxing Day, which was an unforgettable experience. This was made even more special by the delicious homemade lunch that followed, giving us a genuine taste of local hospitality and culture and turning the day into a truly memorable one.
She also made the trip feel special and personal. Her efforts on Christmas Day were a real highlight—decorating the bus, playing festive music, and organising a Secret Santa created such a warm, fun atmosphere and showed how much she genuinely cared about the group’s experience.
The itinerary itself was fantastic, with the beach days providing a perfect balance to the more active and cultural parts of the tour. Turtle Beach in particular was a standout and a wonderful way to relax and enjoy Sri Lanka’s coastline, made even better by Chamodi’s guidance and recommendations.
I’d also like to recognise our bus drivers, Lucky and Reg, who stayed with us throughout the trip. They were professional, friendly, and reliable, and contributed greatly to the smooth running of the journey.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and Chamodi is a real asset to Intrepid. I would happily recommend both her and the Essential Sri Lanka tour to others.
Thank you for a wonderful trip.

Chamodi and the team were attentive, funny, and supported us on our journey during the 10 days we were present. They we flexible with certain activities and let the group make decisions when needed. Overall a fantastic trip that covered a lot of ground in a short period of time.
