Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Visit the seldom-visited Gjirokaster in Albania and get your caffeine fix with a taste of the local Turkish coffee made ‘on the stone’ with a local guide.
Head to the Albanian Riviera and float in the sparkling waters of Himare’s hidden coves. Go on a speed boat tour to Pirate’s Cave and take refreshing swims in the coastal waters. Then, kick back in Corfu – one of Greece’s famed islands.
Discover the walled cities of Kotor and the coastal town of Ulcinj, teeming with history from a bygone era. With a local leader who knows all the hotspots and heaps of free time to wander on your own, you’re bound to find all the best bits!
Descend into one of the world’s most peculiar contemporary art museums in Tirana – housed in an underground bunker built for the Albanian political elite.
Walk the walls of the Old City of medieval Dubrovnik and spot the film locations that have been used in worldwide blockbusters (if you loved Game of Thrones, this place might look a little familiar).
Is this trip right for you?
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s essential to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability for that season. Please note that only some of your hotels will have air conditioning, and it’s virtually non-existent on public transport.
Hotels in this region often don't have double beds. Rooms can be rather small and in most cases bathroom facilities will be shared rather than ensuite.
This trip is a great way to see a lot in a short period of time, but if you have more time to enjoy this region you might like to check out One Week in the Greek Islands.

Is this a whirlwind adventure or a slice of paradise?

Great itinerary, especially if you want to get a good taste of Albania, its history and nature. It was my first group trip of that kind, and I liked it a lot, and had lots of fun with my group. A special thanks to our guide Lucija, who did all what’s needed (and even more than that!) to make the trip go smoothly, hassle-free, but also fun for everyone :)

Loved this trip, you definitely get to see the best of the Southern Balkans. Our tour guide Lucija was very knowledgeable, friendly and organised. I was very impressed about her local knowledge about each place we visited, she was great with recommendations and with communicating the itinerary. Aside from the obvious, I was surprised and impressed by the amount of languages Lucija’s spoke. She was an expert tour guide.

Incredible trip! A great way to see the Balkans - beautiful locations, great local activities and a rich complex history. Lucija (our tour guide) was excellent - she helped us with anything we needed and made sure we had lots of fun. We were an entire group of solo travellers and we felt safe throughout. Highly recommend!

It was a wonderful trip and a great group experience! The accommodations were great for an essential trip and the private transportation made traveling easy & comfortable. Most hotels had elevators but some guest houses did not, so be conscious of the type of luggage you bring. It was a perfect balance of included activities and free time. Meme was a great tour leader and our group had a lot of fun spending time together! Walking shoes, sunscreen, and light clothing is a must!

A fantastic Itinerary! a really good mix of different types of experiences, from historic old towns, mountains and coasts. This trip will give you a great insight into the Balkans and a taster of Montenegro and Croatia with a lot of time spent in Albania which is incredibly beautiful, some of the views on the drives were breathtaking and the accommodation was all excellent considering its a Basix tour! The boat tour in Himare is a real highlight. If you get Almedin (Meme) as a leader you'll have a lot of fun and laughs!

This trip was so much fun! I can’t recommend it enough. Our guide Lucius was so knowledgeable and approachable it made all the difference. She gave us very clear instructions everyday and gave us recommendations on what to do in our free time. Listen to her recommendations! This was my first travel group and I made life long friends. There is a lot of traveling in this trip so be prepared to pack and re pack often. I highly recommend this trip!
