Is this trip right for you?
verified
Travelling on a felucca (traditional wooden boat) is awesome, but it's not for everyone. You will be sharing a sleeping area with your fellow group members for the night and a shared bathroom facility. You'll sleep outside under the stars on a simple mattress, with some bedding provided. If you do feel the cold, you should consider bringing a sleeping bag.
verified
The walkways around many Egyptian ruins can be uneven, dusty and rocky, so be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes. At large sites such as Valley of the Kings, you can also expect to be walking in the elements for most of the day, so adequate sun protection is essential.
verified
Some hotels in Egypt may not have lifts. You may need to climb stairs with your luggage to reach your hotel room for the night.
verified
Temperatures in the Egypt can be extreme, ranging from very hot to very cold, depending on the season – it can even snow in some places! Layers will come in handy for sun protection as well as warmth.
verified
Overnight train journeys are a fast way to cross long distances, better for the environment and a great travel experience. You will share two-berth air-conditioned cabins, with all bedding provided and western style toilets on board.
Itinerary

Go on an Intrepid tour - you'll see and do things that other tours won't introduce you to. We were historically and culturally immersed but all in a relaxed way. Thanks Intrepid, we'll definitely book with you again.

The Egypt Adventure trip is a short one, but you cover lots! The itinerary is not rushed and there is quality free time. If you get Hany as your leader, consider yourself blessed!

This trip was incredible! The timing was a perfect amount to see lots of the major sites while still having some opportunities for respite. The tour guide we had was phenomenal and had studied Egyptology so his explanations at various sites was beyond insightful. Doing the tour really made Egypt easily accessible.

Our trip through Egypt was fantastic it exceeded our expectations. Totally blown away by the history. Excellent itinerary. Mohammed Abdelhady was an excellent leader, just a really great guy with a deep knowledge of his country and history. He was well organised and had an easy going personality. It was a privilege to have him as our tour leader and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Indigenous to NZ I wanted to visit Egypt to meet locals without intruding uninvited. Intrepid was a great way to meet locals as well as see sights and experiences I had only heard about.

When you’re so far from home, just navigating from the airport to your hotel is overwhelming. Do yourself a favour and book Intrepid! Our tour in Egypt allowed us to truely immerse in the local essence of Egypt, where stories come alive. You want to be present for this kind of experience.
