I have travelled with intrepid on several tours in various countries including Nepal, South America and more recently Turkey. They provide good value for money with a variety of tour options. They are professional and also employ great local tour guides.

I’m very glad to have visited Eastern Türkiye. Each place is different with it’s own fascinating history and culture - having the opportunity to visit these places has added to my appreciation and understanding of Türkiye as a complex whole

See Eastern and Southern Turkey before it hits the mainstream tourist trail! Many people have visited western Turkey, but the East and South is a very different experience: It's authentic, mysterious and echoes of pre-historical civilizations reverberate across it's epic landscapes. This tour gives an opportunity to see the tomb of Antiochus at Nemrut, the dawn of mankind's social expansion at Gobekli Tepe and the cradle of civilisation itself in the northern reaches of Mesopotamia before it gets spoilt by mainstream tourism.

So many civilisations' sites visited, it required a lot of travel but that was very comfortable. Excellent organisation and guide. Some hotels poorly maintained, as expected for the area. In the South East it seemed like we were the only non-Turkish tourists. A privilege.

What a wonderful trip! Long days of travelling meant we saw so many different landscapes from the train and then the minibus, away from the usual foreign tourist trail. We stayed in some amazing old mansion hotels, a bit rickety but always located in the most interesting part of town. We covered a huge amount of history, including one of the oldest Neolithic sites at Gobekli Tepe. Our excellent guide Erdim gave some great background information about everywhere we visited, and was able to answer all our questions - on both historical and contemporary Turkey.

Excellent trip. The archaeological sites were outstanding, especially Göbekli Tepe, which was a real highlight. Many of these places are hard to reach independently, so having them included made the experience exceptional. There were some long travel days, but absolutely worth it for what we were able to see.

For people with a strong interest in the history of the Golden Crescent, Mesopotamia, and East Turkey generally, this trip is wonderful. The landscape is never dull, the scheduled stops at sites of historical/archaeological interest are fantastic, and we were lucky enough to have a tour leader with unsurpassable knowledge of the history of the area, from Neanderthal to the present day. The hotels, often in the ‘old towns’ were great, and the food was unsurpassable.

This is a fabulous itinerary for those who love archeology and have an interest in ancient trade routes. Quaint towns, rarely visited by Western tourists, will enchant and the food is delicious. Shoulder season is the best time to go.

This trip offers a great education and exposure to the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia and Anatolia. We benefitted from an extremely knowledgeable leader, small group and constant exchange of information between us. Informative, awe-inspiring, thought-provoking. Do it.
