Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Take in the faraway feeling of one of the world's most remote populated islands and ponder the mystery of the moai monoliths that weigh up to 50 tonnes.
Learn about the heritage of the Rapa Nui people, the island's native Polynesians, from a local guide that will be by your side during all activities.
Enjoy the warm hospitality of the local people, born from a mix of ancient travellers that arrived here from the Polynesian islands and from South America.
Travel your own way, with heaps of free time to stroll along Hanga Roa's main strip, sample the delicious local seafood or explore the island by bicycle.
Visit the beautifully located Orongo Ceremonial Village and Ahu Akivi for unparalleled ocean views.
Is this trip right for you?
On Short Breaks, you maintain a good level of independence and freedom, with the added bonus of having the details sorted out for you. You’ll have lots of free time and you won’t be accompanied by a Trip Leader. This means that all included activities and tours will be run by different local Tuuur partners, and these may operate independently from each other. The included activities and transfers will operate on a join-in basis, which means that you could have your Adventure all to yourself, or others may join you along the way. If you would prefer to travel in a group with a dedicated Trip Leader, just get in touch with your booking agent and they will take you through some alternatives.

Important notes
1. This Short Break Adventure is a ‘join in’ group departure, which means you are not accompanied by an Tuuur group leader – our local representative fills this role – and the configuration of any fellow travelers in the group might change during the trip.
2. This trip will run with a minimum of one person and a maximum of 30 passengers, so you may be joined by other travelers booked on the same date as you, or you may be on your own. This trip is operated by one of our local partners in Easter Island and therefore you may be joined by a mixture of Intrepid-booked passengers and other travelers during activities. Information may be delivered in English and Spanish, or just English depending on the requirements of the group.
3. This trip includes return airport transfers, please advise us of your flight details at time of booking.
4. After purchasing your flight to Easter Island with LATAM you will be sent a link to the following site, which includes a link to the Unique Entry Form (FUI):
This form must be completed before travelling. After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email which must be presented to local authorities at the airport. Without this form you will not be permitted to embark.

Fantastic adventure with Intrepid for a Short Break to Easter Island (good amount of time). Our guide, Sebastian, shared the history and the mysteries of the island and answered all questions with thought and depth. Small group tours are ideal (only small busses on the island) and no locations were overcrowded. Loved it and the international clientele Intrepid draws. Will go on a 4th adventure with Intrepid, for sure!

Great trip to Rapa Nui (Easter Island)! Lokal guide very knowledgeable, and the Island itself is just a must-see! The moai are just as mysterious and magical as I expected! All in all a great trip, well worth the money spent on it ❤️

Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is definitely a place to see. The island history and seeing the multitude of moai is thorough.

Intrepid made the arrangements and the locals executed resulting in a delightful, educational, and fun visit to Rapa Nui. From the moment I was met at the airport, to the return trip, everything went like clockwork. The tours (which differed in schedule from those advertised because of Christmas) were perfectly scheduled. I loved the accommodations.

Do not miss Rapa Nui. It is worth the trip. However, do make sure that there are flights in/out when you need. PreCovid this was not a problem. After the Covid re-opening flights are far and few between and may require a day or more extra stay (there is enough to do for a week). Also, make sure you understand why Intrepid calls this a "Short Break" as they seem to have less control over the tour than on the mainland and they are mostly a facilitating agency and not deeply involved in the tour

Travelers should know that you are not with an Intrepid tour leader but with a guide from a loccl company that Intrepid contracts with, and the sequence of your activities may not line up as the booking states. So the quality of tour will depend on the local guide. We had a Rapa Nui native guide who is very knowledgeable about local history.
