Why you’ll love this trip
Meet the Maasai warriors of Kenya, visit a Maasai village that champions women’s health, and spend time with the Hadzabe community in Tanzania to see how their ancient culture endures today.
Venture into the incredible Masai Mara National Reserve for 4WD safaris, in the morning and the afternoon. This gives you the best possible chance to spot the amazing wildlife that calls this place home.
Explore the Serengeti National Park in depth, with two early morning and two late afternoon game drives through this spectacular wildlife arena.
Visit Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadzabe people, who have lived in the area for over 10,000 years. Participate in daily activities like hunting and gathering, and discover their unique 'click' language, one of the oldest still in use today.
Safari across the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater in an open roof 4WD for a chance to see the endangered black rhinoceros.
Is this trip right for you?
No two journeys in Africa are identical. Be prepared for travel times to be longer or shorter than advised. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts, and unforgettable moments along the way.
Staying in a permanent tented camp in the Serengeti National Park, with no barriers between you and the animals, is amazing, but it's important to heed the safety advice of your leader.
This is a 4WD overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in 4WD vehicles, visiting remote communities and world-renowned wildlife parks. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie.
There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.
The day-to-day itinerary features a selection of optional activities. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is intended only as a guide. Prices are approximate and may change at the discretion of the local provider. All activities are subject to availability.

Unforgettable trip. Joseph, our drivers, Ordi and Martin, as well as the local tour guides and the hotel staff, were all extremely knowledgable and hospitable. They all went above and beyond to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. This trip covers all bases, we saw the big 5 as well as many many other animals, and experienced local culture and cuisine. We learned so much about the animals, local tribes, Africa in general as well as some Swahili! The drivers kept a respectable distance from the animals, and Ordi in particular was a very safe driver, we felt in good hands. I was nervous about the long travel distances in this trip but the landscapes you drive through were all incredibly beautiful. You also drive through local villages which give you another taste of the culture. This along with meeting and travelling with a great group of people (there were 15 of us in total and 5 in our van) made the journeys thoughtfully enjoyable. Some of the more negative reviews on here suggest the accommodation is very poor. This is not advertised as a 5* accommodation trip, you get what you pay for, and it didn’t matter that a few of the accommodations were a bit tired, because the people who worked there and the experiences were well above 5*, we had many songs and dances from the staff, which were some of our best memories from the trip. They were all very accommodating and went to lengths to fix anything that went wrong. We also stayed in an incredible tented accommodation in the Serengeti which felt very luxurious. Finally, Joseph organised a few surprises along the way to make our honeymoon special which was a very kind gesture and lovey surprise. This is our first time arranging a trip with Intrepid and would very much recommend it. Thank you once again!

As a mature age couple with extensive independent travel experience this was our first group trip together so we were a little nervous. However, the combination of a fantastic group of people, excellent leader Tony, wonderful drivers, a well run tour and incredible safari experience made it an unforgettable trip
