Why you’ll love this trip
Meet the Maasai warriors of Kenya, visit a Maasai village that champions women’s health, and spend time with the Hadzabe community in Tanzania to see how their ancient culture endures today.
Venture into the incredible Masai Mara National Reserve for 4WD safaris, in the morning and the afternoon. This gives you the best possible chance to spot the amazing wildlife that calls this place home.
Explore the Serengeti National Park in depth, with two early morning and two late afternoon game drives through this spectacular wildlife arena.
Visit Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadzabe people, who have lived in the area for over 10,000 years. Participate in daily activities like hunting and gathering, and discover their unique 'click' language, one of the oldest still in use today.
Safari across the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater in an open roof 4WD for a chance to see the endangered black rhinoceros.
Is this trip right for you?
No two journeys in Africa are identical. Be prepared for travel times to be longer or shorter than advised. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts, and unforgettable moments along the way.
Staying in a permanent tented camp in the Serengeti National Park, with no barriers between you and the animals, is amazing, but it's important to heed the safety advice of your leader.
This is a 4WD overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in 4WD vehicles, visiting remote communities and world-renowned wildlife parks. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie.
There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.
The day-to-day itinerary features a selection of optional activities. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is intended only as a guide. Prices are approximate and may change at the discretion of the local provider. All activities are subject to availability.

This trip was a great mixture of culture and nature. The leader Caroline was simply amazing, super knowledgeable and fun. The trip involved a lot of time in the car but it was fun and comfortable, and it also meant a lot of game drive time. The whole crew and very welcoming and professional, the accommodations very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this trip in a heartbeat!

Had such an amazing experience. Some of the accomodations weren’t fantastic however they were satisfactory. The activities that were organised exceeded my expectations and I’ll highly recommend to people in future.

Leaving Africa was very sad for us. We connected with the people and their way of life. Mentally it made me realise that don’t sweat about the small things. Take a good look what other people are going through and they do it with a smile. Did not expect to get so close to the wildlife Having Steve as a team leader his knowledge and gentleness was over and above. Would recommend anyone to put this in their list

Intrepid is the way to see East Africa. Not only does the trip take you to all the highlights (we saw the Big 5 and the ugly 5), but there is also ample opportunity to visit local villages. The staff employed by intrepid are amazingly friendly and good humoured and assist you in every way. They do go above and beyond, especially our tour guide, Joseph, who really made our trip a fabulous experience for my family. Asante Intrepid!!!!

The African safari is like nothing I had ever done before. I came away not feeling like a tourist but like someone who had a greater empathy for the culture of Africans. The wildlife and country - totally mindblowing.

Intrepid are awesome and the East Africa Safari was an incredible experience. From seeing beautiful landscapes, to the majesty of the wildebeest migrations, the savannah wildlife (we saw all of the big five) to having the opportunity to meet local peoples and have an intimate experience with them was just outstanding. A highly recommended trip.
