verified
Camping in the Serengeti National Park with no barriers between you and the animals is amazing, but it's important to heed the safety advice of your leader.
verified
This is a 4WD overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in 4WD vehicles, visiting remote communities and world-renowned wildlife parks. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie.

2. This itinerary offers two optional sunrise balloon safaris—one in the Masai Mara and another in Serengeti National Park. We offer both as a pre-booked service, which will guarantee you a place. If you would rather wait and try to get a better price by booking this locally on the ground, you are welcome to – but keep in mind that this is a popular activity, and places are limited.

A trip of a lifetime.. was lucky to see the big 5 and have an amazing group to share such amazing experiences with. The itinerary is well organised and good overview of culture and wildlife safari! Rita and the drivers were a credit to Intrepid. Would definitely recommend.

I had an amazing experience on Intrepid's 10-day Kenya and Tanzania safari, "East Africa Highlights." From start to finish, the trip was exceptionally well-organized, featuring a carefully crafted itinerary that included the Masai Mara, Masai Village, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and other iconic locations. Our guide, Ely, was incredibly knowledgeable, helping us spot wildlife we might have missed and providing fascinating insights into animal behavior and conservation efforts.
The lodges exceeded our expectations, offering breathtaking views and delicious food—a perfect way to relax after each adventure-filled day. We were thrilled to spot the Big Five and enjoyed unforgettable wildlife encounters. Intrepid's commitment to giving back to the community added even more meaning to the experience. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent trip which includes a great mix of culture and wildlife. The game viewing was excellent, I saw as much as previous trips to Tanzania and Namibia combined.
The intrepid guide is great as usual. This is my third trip with Intrepid and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
I would book this trip and then add on Zanzibar manually flying from Arusha.
Would 100% recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience East african culture and excellent game viewing. For reference we saw the big 5 including leapord and lion cubs so it was magical.

East Africa trip has some long, hard, dusty and bumpy days. There are early mornings. Its not luxury travel. But if you are after great wildlife experiences and can handle the road, its a great insight into parts Kenya and Tanzania, that makes the rattles well worth it. What we saw was spectacular. We had great faith in our crew. Nothing was a drama. Things did happen but we barely noticed. They were excellent.

The trip overall was amazing. What made it truly special was our Intrepid team (Tim, David, Francis and Dan). Tim was the best tour leader I have ever had - he was knowledgeable, kind, funny and extremely considerate when I ended up getting sick on the trip. We were on our honeymoon and on the last night, Tim organized a special surprise at our hotel (a decorated room and cake!). You would be very lucky to land Tim as a tour leader on this trip! Some highlights would be: The Masai Mara National Park (and local guide), the 3 tribes we visited, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Camping in the Serengeti - hearing lions roar throughout the night. A couple points that I would like to be honest about to someone booking this tour - The drives were long and very bumpy - but you cover a lot of ground and get to see so many animals which makes it worth it. Be prepared for this and being in the truck for more than half of this trip. I wish that Intrepid organized jeeps while in the Serengeti vs. Going in the big truck. You can really feel the bumps in the road in the Serengeti and it’s a lot easier in smaller vehicles. The hotels were very basic, the staff were amazing at every one, however expect some wear and tear. They were comfortable but again, very basic. Despite all this, I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who is looking to travel through Kenya and Tanzania as it gives you a great experience both culturally and as a safari.

The trip was a wonderful adventure! The intrepid crew were very attentive and knowledgable. The transport was a custom truck/bus that was incredibly comfortable for the long drives. The chef prepared impressive meals with a portable stove and huge attention to hygiene and cleanliness of dishes/cooking equipment.
