Please keep your luggage as small and light as possible. You'll be travelling on public transport where storage space is limited. You'll need to be able to lift your luggage into storage racks, walk across cobblestone streets with it and carry it up and down stairs.
verified
This trip is made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time when your leader will offer suggestions. Please budget spending money for optional activities you want to partake in.
verified
Accommodation on this trip is basic. Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together/apart. Rooms can be small and in some cases bathroom facilities will be shared.
verified
Summer temperatures can be very high in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please keep in mind that many European hotel rooms are not equipped with air-conditioning. In Winter, warm layers will be needed as snow can be expected in some regions. Carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
verified
The primary means of transportation on this trip is by train. Train travel is a fast way to traverse long distances, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and arrive right into the city centre. Trains are comfortable and often decked out with air-conditioning, toilets, a snack bar (or vending machine) and power points.

Like a bit of independence in a tour and use of local guides and public transport?
Once you’ve read the information about the Intrepid trip you want to go on and matched it to your age and physical ability then I recommend this company.
A quality experience, and company.

Was really surprised with our Discover Central Europe Intrepid Train Tour. The cities we visited, our tour group, the way the tour was structured and above all our tour leader Marta Bojenko who made our experience even better. Would highly recommend it.

Travelling as a family (parents and teenagers) can often be boring but this trip was interesting and engaging for all of us with enough time for us to choose our own excursions. We would definitely consider a trip with Intrepid again.

If you like culture, history and having everything organised for you, then this is the trip for you. We covered a lot of
places in a short time, but the pace was manageable. I didn't need to know my l
left from my right. All we had to do was turn up on time. Marina was brilliant on making sure we were safe, so there was no stress, which is just what you want for a holiday.

This central European tour was full of adventure and excitement. Our tour leader Kryzstof was excellent, and we felt very secure in his company. I highly recommend this tour if you are able to do a lot of walking and a lot of stair climbing with your suitcases. Having said that it was quite the adventure and we had a blast!
