Trip Informations
The road is laid out before you on this cycling adventure through Southern Thailand. Beginning in Bangkok with an overnight train, the route sweeps south to the deeply green prehistoric scenery that lies across the map – stunning ancient forests and limestone peaks that were formed hundreds of millions of years ago. Pass emerald waters where tiny islands of exquisite pale rock break the surface, cruising along palm-fringed routes lined with friendly locals. Pedal along undulating roads to unforgettable Khao Sok National Park, walk along dirt trails in search of wildlife, and freewheel down the Andaman Coast to relax on its powdered coastline. Ride inland to Phang Nga Bay and finish up in the classic beachside town of Ao Nang. This active nine-day journey gives a unique look at this fascinating part of the country.

Is this trip right for you?
verified
To complete this trip it is important that you are both confident and competent in riding a bicycle.
verified
While the cycling distances are relatively short and the terrain relatively flat, the climate is usually warm, so you'll need to be reasonably fit. Keep in mind the support vehicle will always be on hand if you need a break.
verified
The riding is mostly done on sealed roads, with the occasional gravel cycle path, so there are no special technical skills required. However, some downhill practice is a great idea prior to your trip.
verified
Please note that both cycling and driving distances may vary due to local circumstances out of our control.
verified
There’s the possibility of a few hiccups along the way – a puncture here and there maybe – but there’s no doubt this is an incredibly rewarding adventure.
verified
The weather in this region varies seasonally. Be prepared to get sweaty, and for the occasional rainstorm which may require a change of plans.

Cycling through southern Thailand's countryside and villages is genuinely transformative — the slower pace lets you hear, smell, and experience daily life up close in a way no bus or car ever could. The equipment was excellent, the bikes were high quality, and a mechanic was always on hand to fix any issues on the road. The hotels were superb, often with pools perfect for morning swims, and the knowledgeable guide made the experience feel personal with thoughtful optional activities along the way.

10/10 cycling holiday with our fabulous guide Phat and the amazing support team. We were provided comfortable transport, good accommodation, traffic control, photography services and plenty of yummy snacks and icy cold water to manage the heat while on the bikes. Thailand is a friendly, safe place to travel and explore by bike and the food is delicious. Highly recommend this trip as long as you’re prepared for the heat if travelling in March.

I very much enjoyed the cycle Southern Thailand trip. For me the cycling was a challenge as the routes were definitely not flat and also impacted by the high temperatures but I felt supported by the tour leader Phat and the rest of the support team. Was great to see different parts of Thailand and learn more about it's culture and people.

A first time group tour was surprisingly delightful. Biking was a lovely way to see the southern pennisula. I was glad I had an e-bike. The support team could not have been better and attended to all needs. I totally recommend Intrepid and this trip (if you like to bike)..too hot!!!

I really enjoyed this trip as a 60+ woman the cycle was a challenge at times; especially up some hills and mountains with the headwinds and in the heat. However the support team were always there either ahead or behind to ensure everyone was okay, there is an option to take timeout and put bikes on the van. We had time at some lovely beaches and stopped off for photos of beautiful temples and some of the hotels were beautiful, which was much needed after a long days cycle! It was great that we had a boat trip included and it was lovely cycling through the Thai countryside as well as the city tour in Bangkok. The only negative I have personally with Intepid tours (I have been on 3) is a lot of the restaurants the group go to are quite touristy and so more expensive than local more authentic restaurants however I understand that most westerners want somewhere where alcohol or western food is available and that may not always be available at more authentic local restaurants. I also understand that eating at the hotel is one of the only options if in the middle of nowhere and Intrepid like to give business to the hotels, however by eating at local restaurants we also boost the local economy.

Southern Thailand by train, van and bike is a magical way to see the country. Waving at children while riding through small country villages, stopping for snacks at a temple , and tasting scrumptious cuisine along the way. The answer is do it, now.

An excellent trip accessible for the most basic level of cyclists. The support is amazing and alll needs are taken care of. A review of some of the hotels are needed. Wonderful experience.
