Trip Informations
Take a cycling adventure through South Korea and see all the highlights (and lesser-known spots) from the perspective of two wheels. While you’re staying active, you’ll ride through Seoul, the seaside city of Gangneung, Sokcho, Gyeongju and Busan and discover the Four Rivers Bike Path with a group of likeminded travellers and a local leader to watch your back and show you the fun secret spots. Visit the famed DMZ and soak up Korea’s interesting history, tuck into delicious local cuisine like hotpot and barbeque, see riverside towns and countryside roads and stay in a glamping park where you’ll get stuck into traditional South Korean culture. Then, travel along the coastline, relax on golden sands and spend free afternoons walking along park trails or taking nighttime river cruises. Visit the Daereungwon Royal Tombs on an evening cycle, ride on a fast train and deep dive into K-pop culture (if the heart desires!) – what better way to see South Korea like a local.
Why you’ll love this trip
Cycle along the famous Four Rivers Bike Path – the most famous and scenic trail of South Korea’s amazing bike path network.
Experience the diverse nature of Seoul, from the neon lights to the quiet paths – not to mention a visit to the infamous DMZ (Demilitarized Zone).
Ride along the stunning shoreline of the East Sea – this is possibly the most picturesque road in all of Korea!
Take some time off the bike and share life experiences with a North Korean refugee in Sokcho.
Enjoy a unique night ride on the street of laidback Gyeongju, soaking in the history long after the last tourist has gone home.
Is this trip right for you?
While the cycling distances on this trip are relatively short (anywhere from 10 to 70 km (6 to 43 mi) the terrain of South Korea varies from flat to hilly, and the climate can vary dramatically. Most people with a reasonable level of fitness will enjoy the trip, but you’ll always have the support vehicle on hand if you need to take a break for an hour or a day.
To complete this trip, it is important that you are confident and competent in riding a bicycle, both solo and in a group environment.
While we often ride to our next accommodation, outside of the main cities a support vehicle will also be with you at all times. Please note that the maximum number of cyclists we can fit in the support vehicle is six.
On this trip we have a single leader that rides with the group, and another that drives the support vehicle (acting as a backmarker where needed).
If you feel like doing all the riding but with less effort, we have the option of hiring an electric bike (e-bike) on this trip. Limited sizes are available so book quickly!

Important notes
1. It is very important that you provide your height at time of booking so we can ensure that you have the appropriate sized bicycle when your trip starts. If you do not provide your height ahead of arrival we cannot guarantee a suitably sized bike for you.
2. A single supplement is possible if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
3. While we usually ride to our next accommodation, outside of the main cities a support vehicle will also be with you at all times possible (excluding some bike-only paths). Please note that the maximum number of cyclists we can fit in the support vehicle is 6.
4. An e-bike option (at additional cost) may be available on this trip. We have limited numbers of these bikes available, and they are an 'on request' basis only.
5. Bike helmets are compulsory on this trip. Please ensure you bring your own bike helmet from home. Helmets can be purchased locally if needed.
6. On this trip we have a single leader that rides with the group, and another that drives the support vehicle (acting as a back-marker where needed). Where the vehicle cannot travel directly with the cyclists (e.g. a cyclists-only path) your leader will assign a person from the group to act as a back-marker. For larger groups a second local guide may join.
7. In the months of October and April many festivals and events take place in Korea. While these are great to witness they do on occassions affect the routes we plan to ride - alternate routes will be followed should the original route be blocked or the riding expected to be significantly delayed.

I really enjoyed this cycling trip, it gave me a great insight into South Korean culture, food, environment and history. Very well organised trip, the cycling was relatively easy, and there was a fair bit of variety. As always with Intrepid, a great bunch of fellow travellers.

This trip was an excellent overview of South Korea and its culture. What an incredible infrastructure South Korea has built for cycling all over the country. Hotels were all very nice, comfortable, and air conditioned rooms with good breakfast when provided. Our guides Sam and Donnie and our driver Mr. Kim were excellent.

I had a wonderful time as a debutant cyclist during the cycle Korea tour. Great balance of workout, scenic routes, relaxation and of course fabulous food choices. Was very happy with the accommodations as well. The tour lead Min-young (Peter) Hong was appropriately organized and communicative and accommodated travel needs as the came up ( injury, phone damage), he prioritized safety and he was also enthusiastic about sharing his culture which made all the difference. The tail guide Dong-hyeok ( Donnie) Kim was also very considerate and excellent in tune ups and making sure nobody got lost. As a result the teamwork was quite seamless. Highly recommend tour!

Sam and his assistant were both great. I had a couple of issues with things I lost and they took care of the it quickly and efficiently. I appreciate all the effort they put in to make this trip very memorable for me. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer any question that was asked of them. They were both an asset to this trip.

This cycling trip utilized the network of dedicated bicycle paths providing both safety and unparalleled scenery. You feel more like you are immersing yourself with the locals and gaining a better understanding of South Korea. The cycling was on easy terrain and we had sunny skies every day. Sam was our guide and was instrumental in providing a memorable life experience.

This trip is a great way to see South Korea. The cycling was quite easy and Korea’s dedicated bike paths make it really simple. The bikes provided were great and our bus to get around was first class with a great driver Captain Kim. Dennis was a great guide breaking up the cycling with cafe stops and also providing great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Donnie was also fantastic taking so many photos for the group. I would highly recommend this trip as you get to see so much more of the country on a bike rather than in a bus.

A great way to see many areas of South Korea without being trapped on a bus. Highly recommend cherry blossom season, as it does not disappoint. Our guide, Sam, was great! Cycling with 14 ppl cannot be an easy task, but he made it seamless. I’d have liked another day in Busan, but 10/10 would do again.
