Is this trip right for you?
Please note that the Croatian coast is characterised by its hilly and mountainous terrain, resulting in numerous steps throughout the landscape, which some may find physically demanding.
Summer temperatures can exceed 40°C in many visited regions, requiring sun protection, layered clothing for heat, and ample hydration; consider peak season pressures along the Croatian coast from July to mid-September and note that European hotels often have single beds that can be pushed together.
If you have more time to explore the region you can extend your trip by starting your travels in Dubrovnik and exploring the Dalmatian Coast. Check out our trip 'Dubrovnik to Bled' (trip code ZMSUC). Most departure dates are designed to create this perfect combination trip.
Pack lightly for this trip as you'll need to carry your own bag, aiming to keep it under 15 kg (33 lb). Opt for a backpack or a shoulder bag for convenience, ensuring it has straps suitable for cobbled streets and stairs, and bring a bag for essentials on day trips.

We had the most enjoyable week getting to see the highlights of Croatia and Slovenia. Beautiful coastal cities with amazing food, to bustling capital cities with historic sites, I will be encouraging all of my friends and family to experience these two countries.

I can not recommend the benefits of having your trip organised by a tour operator and guide with local knowledge. Sharing Mr holidays with my getup members was wonderful and my guide was very knowledgeable, professional and amiable.

The format wonderfully suits- reduces stress of booking accomodation and transport supports local business which I love, has a mix of group and own time.. Info on the destinations excellent with great tips from local tour leader each day tailored to your likes. Definately will do another one.

What a great trip! Such variety in a short time, and the itinerary both makes it feel like you have truly experienced the location but leaves you wanting more. Filip was such an engaging tour lead with lovely stories and a good teacher. I feel so lucky I got to meet these countries in this way.

I had a fantastic time on this trip. We explored everything from beautiful beaches to mountains and lively cities, and I don’t think I could’ve seen or done as much if I had planned it myself. The itinerary had a great balance of planned activities and free time to explore at your own pace. Our tour leader, Mirna, was amazing. She was super knowledgeable and always ready with helpful local tips. I definitely recommend staying a bit longer in Split and Ljubljana; both cities are full of charm and worth the extra time. I highly recommend this trip!

My tour from Split to Ljubljana was one of my best Intrepid trips to date. My leader, Mia, was exceptional and her enthusiasm and knowledge about her country was infectious. I learned so much about Croatian and Balkan history, politics and art. Croatia surprised me in the best ways possible. Croats are passionate, boisterous, rebellious, romantics people that I found to be warm and welcoming and a little intense at times. I'm interested in returning to the Balkans for another tour in the future.

This was an excellent trip - there were many highlights, but just to mention a couple: Zadar sea organs, Plitvice Lakes, Lake Bled. For those who are unsure about whether to take carried or wheelie luggage - you will need to carry your luggage up stairs, so I’d recommend packing light (under 15kgs), but I regretted taking carried luggage rather than wheelie luggage.

This was an amazing experience exploring Croatia and Slovenia!! Excellent and well-planned itinerary that was a great mix of solo/free time and organized activities. We had a great group of travellers that have become friends, and a nice mix of ages. I think the pairings of roommates was well done. But in particular the tour leader, Mia, was amazing and really made the trip an exceptional experience! Her passion, organization, and local knowledge really made it so easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend this trip!
