Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Try to spot the elusive resplendent quetzal as you explore Monteverde’s cloud forests. Better yet, why not consider a jungle zip-line to get high in the sky for the best views?
verified
Explore a maze of mangroves on a kayaking trip on Damas Island. The best part? You’ll paddle alongside a local naturalist and get insider knowledge of the ecosystems and creatures that live here – including white-faced capuchins who often make an appearance.
verified
Take a (fffresh) plunge beneath the cascades of Tesoro Escondido Waterfall. The hike there is half the fun, with river crossings and suspension bridges.
verified
Take in the size and stature of the mighty Arenal Volcano, maybe while soaking in one of La Fortuna’s lava-heated thermal springs.
verified
With plenty of time to chill out at your own pace, Quepos’ surf vibe is ideal for catching some waves, lazing on the white-sand beaches or hiking the trails of Manuel Antonio with your travel pals.

Costa Rica is generally hot and humid year-round, and from May to October it can be wet too. At night and in locations at higher elevations it can get chilly. Protect yourself from the sun, bring a waterproof jacket and light clothing you can layer, and stay hydrated. Please carefully consider which time of the year you'll feel most comfortable travelling.

Costa Rica is a popular place and can sometimes be expensive. Expect to pay more than you would in other Central American countries for many things.

An amazing trip from start to finish! Our guide, Emil was fabulous! The home stay was very enjoyable and the daily excursions so much fun. Thanks to our guide we learned so much about the country, the culture and of course, the wildlife. Highly, highly recommend this trip.

Costa Rica is breathtaking and the vast wildlife and various activities make the trip well worthwhile. Wish I'd taken the 15 day trip, but will in the future. Waterfalls, ziplining, water rafting are must do's.

The Classic Costa Rica trip was a life-changing experience. I grew in knowledge of the country, the culture, the people, the flora, and the fauna. Our guide was phenomenal. If all the guides are like him, I’d definitely travel with Intrepid again.

This was my first Intrepid experience and it's off to a great start. Allan, our Intrepid leader was an excellent guide throughout the entire experience and I was also quite lucky with the other travellers as we all got along very well. The trip was a good pace with a good combination of activities and down time. However, if you're not comfortable with more 'rustic' accommodations, this may not be the trip for you.

If you would like an authentic trip into the Costa Rican culture, then this is the trip for you! The home stay experience was a highlight & the reason we chose this itinerary. This trip was a perfect mix of adventure/action and relaxation. Our guide Allan was knowledgeable & passionate, and created a fun, relaxed environment. He made sure, we didn’t have to worry about anything. We saw everything we wanted to and much more, including monkeys, sloths, macaws, & toucans. This beautiful lush country is paradise, and it was easy to embrace their “Pura Vida” way of life.

I had a brilliant time on this trip with a lovely, fun group of people. Malo was a great guide who looked after us all well showing and sharing his knowledge on the amazing wildlife, beautiful nature and the culture. There is some long journeys but the scenery is incredible and you get to see and do so much. Would have loved to stay longer in some of the places though
