Trip Informations
Discover a region of natural diversity, cultural riches and laidback vibes on an eight-day jungle jaunt through Costa Rica. Thanks to a longstanding tradition of preserving its natural assets, much of the country’s primary rainforest still stands. Opportunities for nature-based activities are endless here and the beaches on both coasts are well worth your free time. Spot monkeys and sloths in the cloud forests of Monteverde, hike to hidden waterfalls and kick back in the surf town of Manuel Antonio. Explore the depths of this vibrant country with plenty of time to make this trip your own.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Try to spot the elusive resplendent quetzal as you explore Monteverde’s cloud forests. Better yet, why not consider a jungle zip-line to get high in the sky for the best views?
verified
Explore a maze of mangroves on a kayaking trip on Damas Island. The best part? You’ll paddle alongside a local naturalist and get insider knowledge of the ecosystems and creatures that live here – including white-faced capuchins who often make an appearance.
verified
Take a (fffresh) plunge beneath the cascades of Tesoro Escondido Waterfall. The hike there is half the fun, with river crossings and suspension bridges.
verified
Take in the size and stature of the mighty Arenal Volcano, maybe while soaking in one of La Fortuna’s lava-heated thermal springs.
verified
With plenty of time to chill out at your own pace, Manuel Antonio’s surf vibe is ideal for catching some waves, lazing on the white-sand beaches or hiking the trails of the national park with your travel pals.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
While this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it’s essential to be at least moderately fit if you want to partake in all activities.
verified
Many of the activities on this trip (both included and optional) take place in the great outdoors. This means you'll need to be prepared to deal with insects and occasionally rustic conditions. It's all part of immersing yourself in this natural paradise.
verified
Costa Rica is generally hot and humid year-round, and from May to October it can be wet too. At night and in locations at higher elevations it can get chilly. Protect yourself from the sun, bring a waterproof jacket and light clothing you can layer, and stay hydrated. Please carefully consider which time of the year you'll feel most comfortable travelling.
verified
Costa Rica is a popular place and can sometimes be expensive. Expect to pay more than you would in other Central American countries for many things.

The Costa Rica 8 day trip was a memorable experience. We had wonderful companions and an awesome guide. Our guide, Johana Roffo, showed us her love for her country with enthusiasm, which helped us appreciate what Costa Rica has to offer, in particular, Pura Vida!

The Costa Rica experience is a great blend of adventure and relaxation that takes you through the rainforests of Arenal, cloud forests of Monteverde, and the beaches of Manuel Antonio. They give you enough flexible time to do your own things, so be warned that you'll have to pay extra usually for optional excursions. The hotels weren't mind blowing, but their locations were pretty good. Our guide Juan is a 10/10 and if you're lucky to snag him for this trip, you're guaranteed for an epic trip.

This was my first solo trip and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The tour was well organized, accommodations were great (especially Monteverde), and the included meals and activities added a lot to the experience. Our guide Leonardo was incredible—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate. I can’t wait to book another trip with Intrepid.

7 Days in Costa Rica delivered, especially with our remarkable guide Karol. Her positive energy was infectious and the itinerary went off without a glitch. Felt stimulated and safe. We are a senior couple and all activities were optional which was such a bonus. I would endorse Karol and Intrepid 1000%.

We traveled with Leo and had an amazing time! The trip was well organized and the optional activities were excellent. We enjoyed learning about the culture and amazing nature of Costa Rica. There is a lot of driving on this tour, but it is worth it to visit diverse areas of the country.
