Is this trip right for you?
This is a hiking adventure, so be sure to review the descriptions of all the walks, a good level of fitness is required to fully enjoy the included hikes.
Hiking in Scotland can be challenging, not just for its elevation, but for its terrain, which often features uneven, narrow, and steep paths.
Scotland’s mountainous weather is famously unpredictable, with the saying "four seasons in one day" often holding true. You can experience sunshine, rain, wind, and even snow all in a single day, especially in the higher altitudes. Conditions can change rapidly, so it’s essential to be prepared for all types of weather when hiking in Scotland’s mountains.
On Day 5, we’ll summit Ben Nevis. While the group will be guided by qualified experts, please note that the trek will take almost the entire day, lasting 9+ hours.

I loved this trip and would recommend without reservation! I was concerned about the level of fitness required but after a month or two of my regular gym work outs with some hiking targeted work outs added on, it was definitely feasible! This was my first solo trip with a group like this and I’ll definitely be back!

Despite it being the rainiest summer in Scotland since 1969, this week of Classic Walks was fantastic. Midgies and all. From the West Highland Way to trudging up Ben Nevis, I recommend this beatuiful week of walking wholeheartedly. Guides kept us well taken care of, breakfasts were delicious, and it was super fun to be with such a lovely group of international folk. Am already thinking about my next Intrepid trip.

The trip Classic Scotland with Intrepid travel has been a really great experience, Despite the rain and midgets , the hikes have been truly amazing, incredible scenery where you feel one with nature. Our guides Rory and Alan have been also very helpful, knowledgeable and always very approachable. The guesthouse where we were staying a great place place to come back to rest after the hikes. Climbing Ben Nevis is quite challenging due to the steep hikes, the rocky paths and the very cold weather reaching the top. But an incredible and rewarding experience. I would recommend this trip happily to everyone.

Great trip including all the major hiking routes and climbs around Fort William. Lara is an amazing guide and the hike up Ben Nevis was incredible as was the parts of the West Highland Way we achieved in 2 days.

The trip was absolutely incredible. We embarked on a 6-day nature walk non-stop, encountering a mix of sunny, rainy, and windy days – the classic Highland weather. The entire journey was impeccably organized, making it simple to adapt to your body's needs. Andrew and Ramsay were wonderfully kind and professional, ensuring everyone was taken care of throughout the hike.
