Trip Informations
The enchanting northern state of Rajasthan is awash with all the colours of India. On our classic adventure, we discover the fierce history of massive forts and the opulence and splendour of Maharajahs' palaces. Stroll markets, search for the elusive Bengal tiger, enjoy a shared meal with a family in Pushkar, and soak up the culture of the local people. This is truly the essence of Rajasthan.

Is this trip right for you?

We include some key sights in each destination as well as aim to provide some free time for you to make your own discoveries. Past travellers have found that some research before they travel on what they are most interested in seeing and doing has allowed them to maximise their time in each place.
verified
While there is no guarantee you will see a tiger during your safari in Ranthambhore, you may have a chance to see a variety of other wildlife, including hyenas, jackals, deer, langurs, marsh crocodiles, wild boars, and birdlife.
verified
Make sure your luggage is light and compact enough to be able to carry it up and down multiple flights of stairs (ie. in train stations, hotels without elevators).

There are a number of long travel days on this trip. Some journeys take between six to eight hours, but are a great opportunity to get to know locals, fellow travellers, and the diverse scenery. We are covering a lot of this vast country during the trip, so the journey is all part of the India experience.

It’s important to prepare for hot sticky temperatures during the day and cooler climates in the evening, particularly in the desert. Layers are one of the best ways to tackle this disparity in weather. We visit a number of temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

Sabi's amazing leadership made this tour of Rajasthan one of the most valuable and fun adventures of my life. He went above see and beyond, engaging our entire group in the joys of India and the pe I people here. I cannot say enough about his support he gave to ensure that we maximized our experience. His high energy and engaging manner brought our group together as a family. Sabi is organized, knowledgeable and an excellent communicator. Thanks to his efforts, we are even enjoying our extension tour of Varanasi. We are grateful that Sabi lead our ragtag group of wanderers.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful trip to South and North India. It was a trip filled with history, culture, art and hospitality! Everywhere we went we were welcomed and everyone we met was helpful and kine. So may experiences stand out, the Tuktuk drive who helped find a cobbler to repair my shoe, the same cobbler, who worried I needed food or water. Or better yet the farmer on the train who sat next to me, who wanted to share his lunch! So many kindnesses and people who welcomed us to India. I will say to anyone, don’t miss coming to this fabulous country!

This was an amazing trip which was an introduction to India for me. My senses were on overload with the vibrant colors, people, food and sites we visited. Looking forward to exploring the southern part of India now,
Our guide, Olivia was exceptional. She was engaging, informative and made our trip truly incredible. I wish I could request her for another experience in India.

Classic Rajasthan was an amazing and immersive experience in every way. We were most fortunate to have a truely exceptional Leader in Harshvardhan Singh. This trip stands out for its ever changing variety of sights, means of travel, accommodation and experiences. The heritage stays were a delightful and insightful surprise.

We are first time Intrepid travellers and were unsure how we would enjoy a group tour, as had traveled independently previously.
We were very lucky to get a very caring, supportive and patient Tour Leader, who ensured everyone was included in the group. And we had a brilliant group, mainly women, and laughed a lot. We learnt so much about Indian food, culture and history. Also enjoyed some relaxing days and saw mother Tiger and her 3 cubs playing in Ranthambore National Park- a highlight!
Highly recommend Intrepid travel.
