Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Witness Argentina’s Perito Moreno Glacier and listen to the symphony of thundering ice cracking along the 30 km-long expanse of electric blue. This is one of the few glaciers left that isn’t shrinking!
Spend three days camped among the peaks of Chilean Patagonia – a great opportunity for a true digital detox. Sleep under an untouched sky and witness vast, ever-changing landscapes by day.
Trek past the most beautiful waterfalls and glaciers of Torres del Paine National Park and spot wildlife like guanacos, flamingos, foxes and rhea birds along the way.
Explore Laguna Esmeralda – arguably the best hike in Tierra del Fuego National Park. Near Ushuaia (The End of the World), this is the nation’s only park with an ocean coastline.
Begin and end your trip with time in bustling Buenos Aires – the perfect place to reconnect with the urban world after a remote adventure in the wild. Try local Argentinian food, dance the tango and hit the nightlife!
Is this trip right for you?
This is a hiking trip, you should come prepared as the fitter you are, the more enjoyable all the hikes will be.
Patagonia’s remoteness and popularity as a world-class destination mean travel and accommodation here can be more expensive, but the incredible scenery and once in a lifetime experiences make it well worth it.
Please read the packing list carefully and bring all essential items with you. Your suitability to the weather in Patagonia is an important factor to consider before you travel. Be prepared for all elements – rain, wind and extreme cold.
The three-day camping adventure in Torres del Paine National Park is one of our favourite parts of this trip but remember facilities will be more basic on this part of the tour than others. We've sourced our accommodation very carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel, but please note that service and accommodation in Argentina and Chile may differ from standards at home.
In order to make the most of our time in Patagonia, this trip includes two particularly long travel days (Days 7 and 11). Please read the itinerary carefully for travel time estimates. The reward for your patience comes in the form of jaw-dropping glacial scenery.
Itinerary
Trek past glaciers, mountains and waterfalls on these classic hikes of wild South America
Travel from the heaving streets of Buenos Aires to the remote wilderness of Argentina and Chile on this 15-day trekking trip. Hike to the clear waters of Laguna de Los Tres and see a glacial lake surrounded by jagged peaks when you explore Laguna Torre. Spend a few days deep in the wilds of Torres del Paine National Park, hiking past glaciers and watching rhea birds and pink flamingos preen in front of a mountain backdrop. Finish with a lagoon hike in Ushuaia and a night in Buenos Aires – the perfect end to an active adventure through the wilderness of South America.

It packed in a lot and moving around South America is convoluted. However our guide kept everything running smoothly and always approachable with any questions and concerns . It’s a challenging environment and it was all part of the adventure ! Loved it !!

Fantastic trip. Andres, fabulous guide. Great group of fit 20s to fit 60s. Excellent options for slower pace. Hint: no FOMO, more time to enjoy rather than be destination focussed, but go with the flow. Patagonia is wild and unpredictable. That's why we go.

This is a beautiful and amazing part of the world and I'd highly recommend this tour. Though I love hiking (and the hikes are indeed incredible!) I'm not big on camping, so the fact that this tour was day hikes and mostly hotel stays was a draw for me. The hotels were clean and comfortable, no complaints there. I had concerns about the camping but figured it was only 3 days so I'd deal with it. I ended up being pleasantly surprised with the "camping" my single tent was already set up for me upon arrival. The mat was comfortable and the sleeping bag (which i rented/ didn't bring my own) was warm despite windy, rainy 4-10ish° C temps at night. The meals prepared by the camp chefs and served in our dining hall/ tent were really good! I am always super hungry when hiking and I definitely felt like I had enough food- there's a restaurant at the campsite as well but I never needed any extra food (this doesn't sound much like "real" camping afterall:-) Our tour leader Andrés was phenomenal! He is kind, funny, extremely knowledgeable, everyone loves Andrés. Our local guides great as well-Gilda in El Chalten, Mauricio and Matias in Torres del Paine and Tobias in Ushuaia. There is also a bit of driving to/from trailheads/accommodations, the private bus was comfortable and got to know our driver, Patricio(Pato) well and he is also a very nice person and a great driver too as you never know when guanaco/fox/etc will run out into the road! There are a few different ways to see/experience/hike Patagonia and for me this tour was perfect, having completed it and knowing what I know now i would make the same choice again!

This has to be up there as one of my most favourite Intrepid trips of all time...and I have done more than 25 of them. A trip like this seems to bond a group in a really special way, helped along of course by our fabulous leader Valentin. Oh, and the mountain views on this trip are nothing short of spectacular!

This is an excellent tour. Ernesto was an incredible guide ensuring all the group were looked after, even though the ages ranged from 18-73. The whole group bonded really well which was also due to Ernesto’s enthusiasm. We even saw a puma close up!

If you’re considering this Patagonia trip with Intrepid, do yourself a favor and book it! The itinerary is extremely well thought out - everything from hotel transfers, laundry days, and hiking excursions are executed flawlessly. I got to travel with amazing people from all over the world, and we were especially lucky to have Ernesto as our guide - he is the best ever!!

This is a wonderful, physically challenging trip. You will see amazing sites and see geology come to life. Our guide Selva was exceptional. We learned about the environment as it is now and how it became that way. Was a little surprised by the number of other people doing the same walks at the same time.

This trip was an amazing adventure and our guide, Selva was absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t imagine a more positive proactive and resilient leader, with whom we really bonded. I would envision being friends her with outside of this experience. She really made the experience wonderful!
