Is this trip right for you?
verified
Many of the activities (both included and optional) on this trip take place in the great outdoors. This means you'll need to be prepared to deal with insects and occasionally rustic conditions. It's all part of immersing yourself in this natural paradise.
verified
Costa Rica is generally hot year-round, and from May to October can be pretty wet too. At nighttime and in locations at higher elevations it can get chilly. Protect yourself from the sun, bring light clothing you can layer and a waterproof jacket, and stay hydrated. Please carefully consider which time of the year you'll feel most comfortable travelling.
verified
There are many opportunities to get active on this adventure. Some of the optional activities require a moderate level of fitness and sturdy walking shoes. If you'd prefer to take it easy, however, there are plenty of other things you can do instead.
verified
The homestay is a wonderful opportunity to witness everyday local life. A hearty homecooked dinner and breakfast will be served during your stay, which can be a lot more basic than what you're used to.
verified
With so much to see and do, Costa Rica can sometimes be expensive. Expect to pay more than you would in other Central American countries for a lot of things.

The trip was amazing! With a great mix of cultural, must-see, and optional activities, there was something for everyone. Our guide Marvin was a wealth of knowledge. He has a great sense of humor and was always kind, helpful, and organized. He made it a fantastic trip. This was an eco-conscious and impactful trip, which aligned well with Intrepid’s focus on strengthening communities. Thank you Intrepid and Marvin for an incredible experience. Pura vida!

The Costa Rica trip with Marvin was exceptional. In the two weeks we learned about animals and vegetation in several parks and at the oceans. We learned about coffee and coco plantations, made paper at a home stay and had many options for physical activities. Marvin and Ray Brown are very knowledgeable experts to introduce the treasures of the nature of Costa Rica in detail. This trip was absolutely worth it!

A great trip to get a taste of Costa Rica, its people, culture, animals and plants. Our guide Marvin was fantastic and Ray Brown, a local guide in Tortuguero, the home stay in Santa Rosa, indigenous tribe visit, cooking classes, and the various hikes were highlights.

This trip is a great way of seeing a lot of Costa Rica in a short space of time, and getting to some places that would be hard to reach yourself. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife during the trip, and enjoyed the wide range of optional activities that were available.

Unbelievable trip! A gorgeous country shown to us by the passionate people who live and work there. The tour guide was amazing and couldn’t have helped everyone better. Made extra special by being able to volunteer at a dog rescue that our tour guide arranged one afternoon. If you are thinking about this trip, don’t, just book it!
