Is this trip right for you?
verified
Many of the activities (both included and optional) on this trip take place in the great outdoors. This means you'll need to be prepared to deal with insects and occasionally rustic conditions. It's all part of immersing yourself in this natural paradise.
verified
Costa Rica is generally hot year-round, and from May to October can be pretty wet too. At nighttime and in locations at higher elevations it can get chilly. Protect yourself from the sun, bring light clothing you can layer and a waterproof jacket, and stay hydrated. Please carefully consider which time of the year you'll feel most comfortable travelling.
verified
There are many opportunities to get active on this adventure. Some of the optional activities require a moderate level of fitness and sturdy walking shoes. If you'd prefer to take it easy, however, there are plenty of other things you can do instead.
verified
The homestay is a wonderful opportunity to witness everyday local life. A hearty homecooked dinner and breakfast will be served during your stay, which can be a lot more basic than what you're used to.
verified
With so much to see and do, Costa Rica can sometimes be expensive. Expect to pay more than you would in other Central American countries for a lot of things.
Itinerary
Dive into diverse Costa Rica, from the towering jungle to the palm-lined coast
Discover incredible, lush Costa Rica and understand why this part of the world is called the ‘rich coast’. This 15-day adventure, beginning and ending in lively San Jose, is a journey through the jungles, farmlands, beaches and cities of a pure Central American location. Stay with a local family in Santa Rosa de Pocosol and help your hosts prep a traditional meal. Soak in springs that get their heat from an active volcano in La Fortuna and take on a huge array of nature-based optional activities in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Spot three-toed sloths in the thickets of the Manuel Antonio National Park, then relax beneath swaying palms on the nearby beaches.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first international trip to Costa Rica. It was very well planned and our guide, Alan, was very knowledgeable about the land and its history. I would highly recommended this trip and Alan as your guide. The food was great and the experience was priceless.

We encouraged two good friends to join us on this Intrepid trip, and I don’t think Costa Rica left anyone disappointed. Costa Rica is a precious jewel, wildlife abounds under every leaf and twig, on the ground, in the air, in the water and most of all in the canopy. Go and immerse yourself in this wonderland, I’m still buzzing from my trip and I suspect I will be for awhile.

This was an excellent trip with a fantastic group that ranged in age from 26 to 84! Our guides ensured that we saw many different birds and animals - lots of different monkeys, iguanas, caiman, turtles, crocodiles, tarantula, humming birds to name but a few. There was a lot of flexibility and varied options for activities with a good balance between wildlife and more adrenalin pumped options like tubing and zip wires. We enjoyed the home stay and the chance to experience a sustainable community. The food was good throughout and we enjoyed happy hour cocktails watching the sunset on the beach at the end! Our group guide was brilliant.

I had a wonderful holiday in Costa Rica and saw the most beautiful places, animals and birds. Got to do a bit of everything: wonderful boat trip in Tortuguero, zip lining, beautiful hike in Rio Celeste. Also stayed with a lovely family and learnt to make chocolate from scratch, and spent a whole day on a quiet beach in the pacific. If you get guide Allan Alfaro Fallas, consider yourself lucky. He is entertaining, knowledgeable, helpful and spots wildlife my eyes would never have seen. He takes a big zoom camera with him on hikes so we can see animals close up, then sent us the pictures! It seems like animals are well treated in Costa Rica, because they are not afrain of humans, so we got to see a lot of wild life from close up.

I had an incredible time welcoming 2022 in Costa Rica with Jorge and my tour group. So much to see and do, and the ongoing consideration around COVID safety precautions kept the group healthy without diminishing the experience. Costa Rica is so beautiful!

I enjoyed this trip because the group and leader were friendly people and Costa Rica is a beautiful country. The included activities are minimal and not overbearing. You have the option to pay for better activities. Decent cuisine and accommodation.
