Trip Informations
Take your family on a memorable adventure through China and see the many sides of this culturally rich and naturally beautiful nation. On this 12-day trip, you and your family will marvel at the incredible Great Wall of China and Terracotta Army, get lost in the quiet beauty of Yangshuo, encounter giant pandas at a conservation centre and be dazzled by the colourful markets of the big cities. Travel by bullet train, take a cooking class and visit Tiananmen Square. Boasting some of the grandest urban metropolises, lush countryside and acclaimed local cuisine, China is an ideal destination for the whole family.
Why you’ll love this trip
Wander along the iconic Great Wall of China, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, as you learn about its history from your handy local leader.
Meet giant pandas in Chengdu – the kids will love this once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Watch these adorable creatures at play, learn about important conservation work and get to know the super-cute red pandas also in residency.
Travel back in time to the era of China’s powerful emperors when you and your family explore the halls and courtyards of the Forbidden City in Beijing and see the impressive Terracotta Army in Xi’an.
Zip through the Chinese landscape on high-speed bullet trains – an efficient and convenient way of discovering this expansive country.
Learn the secrets of Chinese cuisine in a cooking class in Yangshuo – you’ll return home with a new recipe to whip up as a reminder of this family adventure.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip uses a mix of transport methods for a local experience – bullet trains, the metro, private vehicles and public buses – some of which provide a great chance to interact with the locals.
This trip covers a fair bit of ground to maximise experiences and enable you to see more of this vast country, so be prepared for some long journeys and a lot of walking.
China’s world-famous sites and experiences draw large numbers of local and international travellers. We recommend a little patience and comfortable shoes as you may need to wait before entering the more popular locations on your itinerary.

Very informative tour that lets you see real China. In many places you would be the only foreigner. Our tour guide William was excellent and made this trip special and enjoyable. William loves people, his country and is fantastic with kids. Keep in mind that this is a family friendly tour and it is not premium. Enjoy!

Our family really enjoyed our trip around China. The itinerary had a great selection of sites and activities which everyone enjoyed. Travelling by bullet train was very comfortable, and as it was a family tour, our kids had other kids to hang with. Our tour leader was excellent, super friendly and patient.

What made the journey especially meaningful was our guide, Leon. His knowledge of China and his warm personality, made every stop along the way come alive. He struck the perfect balance between sharing fascinating insights, giving us space to explore, and making sure the whole group felt comfortable and connected especially that we were only a group of 4 which was so special. What truly set this trip apart, though, was how Intrepid took us beyond the usual tourist spots. We found ourselves having lunch with welcoming host families tucked away in little alleys we never would have discovered on our own, and staying in charming bed and breakfasts unknown to most travelers. These authentic experiences created some of our most treasured memories from the journey.
