The Five Stan's Express exceeded my expectations, the mixture of history, culture, people, landscapes, food and experiences are unforgettable. We were so fortunate to have Rejep in Turkmenistan and Xenyia in the other Stan's, both are exceptional guides, so organised, professional, knowledgeable and energetic, which added to the experience. I think this was my 17th trip with Intrepid and I love the small group with the homestays which add to the experience. Thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone.

I cannot recommend this trip enough - what an amazing three weeks! The trip provides diverse experiences: ancient and contemporary cities, natural beauty, and truly spectacular food. Darvaza by night and Lake Kaindy are real highlights. A huge thank you to our leaders Svetlana and Rejep - they were brilliant!

The trip to the 5 Stans was excellent. Communication with the company was prompt and the tour guides were very good. This was my first tour with a group and I think the destination and being a small group of travellers - it worked well. Certainly would recommend Intrepid as a tour operator.

The 5 Stans trip was fantastic. The countries are quite varied allowing you to explore history and culture as well as mountains and desert scenery.
Our guides Serdar and Aya were great providing so much information and humour as well as helping us cross numerous borders with ease.
I would highly recommend this trip, especially for those looking for countries that aren’t on the classic tourist trail.

Highly recommend the 5 Stans express trip. The Essential Notes really made it sound scary but the accomodations and activities were great. Rejep and Svetlana are amazing tour leaders. So many sights to see, roads to travel, countryside and lakes to see. Locals are all so friendly and we had many opportunities to interact with them. I had plenty of free time to explore on my own as well. My group was amazing which helped make it super special.

The Five Stans Express with Intrepid was absolutely incredible — the perfect mix of history, culture, scenery, and adventure. Every day brought something new and unforgettable, from the Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan to the stunning mountain landscapes of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and of course the surreal glow of the Darvaza Gas Crater in Turkmenistan.
The true highlight, though, was our tour leader, Jam. She was outstanding — knowledgeable, organised, and full of energy and warmth. Jam brought the history of Central Asia to life with her stories, handled all the logistics with calm professionalism, and made every single person in the group feel cared for. She turned a great trip into an exceptional one.
If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate — and if you’re lucky enough to travel with Jam, you’re in for the journey of a lifetime
