This trip involves long travel days on rough and winding roads. You’ll be travelling by private vehicle, and in one day you could be driving anywhere between three and ten hours. Please review the Itinerary for more details.

I highly recommend visiting these countries as soon as possible, before they become fully touristic. Intrepid has organized everything so beautifully, working with local people, that it truly feels like you’re traveling through their country with a friend.
A big thank you to Rejep, who accompanied us in Turkmenistan, and to Aya, who was with us in all the other countries. You two were the highlights of my trip.

An absolutely amazing trip. Very full on in terms of travelling but very much worth it. The countries are all very different and travelling through them gave a real understanding of the country itself and everyday life. One of the best trips I have been on!

The Stans tour brings magic carpets, desert fortresses, marauding horses people, and Silk Road out of your imagination and into real life. It is an enlightened trip.

This is a fantastic trip ranging from the Caspian Sea to the borders of China. The depth of history, and melting pot of peoples of so many different cultures is astounding. You'll see beautiful architecture, enjoy fabulous food and hear all about the complex history of the region.

A wonderful introduction to a fascinating region exploring history, culture, architecture, scenery and food. A highlight is spending time with locals sharing their customs, food and homes. The accommodation, food and activities were great but the best part of this trip is the guides – Serdar, Rejep and Diana – outstanding!

The Five Stans trip did not disappoint. It was a journey across such diverse landscapes. From very cosmopolitan cities and remote mountain villages. Each country offered such different and unique experiences. I particularly enjoyed the mountainous terrain of Tajikistan and the warmth of the people, not to mention the best Plov eaten at our family hosted dinner in Khujand. But how can you single out only 1 Stan. All five hold such unforgettable moments. The Architectual wanders in Uzbekistan, breathtaking natural beauty of Krygyzstan, and then Ashgabat both mysterious and surreal. This is a trip that will live with me for the rest of my life and hopefully can return someday.

If you're thinking of booking this trip, stop thinking, and just book it. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. From the cities, mountains, lakes and everything in between you won't be disappointed. Every country has so much to offer and so many highlights that you have to go to appreciate them all. From the people, the places, and the trip leader, it's definitely a trip of a lifetime and I certainly won't forget it
