Central Asia is a remote destination, perfect for Tuuur travellers! You will venture well away from cities, right off the beaten track and be able to immerse yourself in local food, life and culture. Accommodation may on occasion be more basic than what you are used to, especially in local homes, guesthouses and at the yurt. Shower and toilet facilities will be limited in some places and non-existent in others. While the comfort level won't always be high, the rewards of living in true local style in this far-out part of the world are immeasurable.
verified
This is an overland journey, so there will be some very long days of travelling and driving, often over rough terrain. This can be tiring and require patience. The vehicle we use is small enough to access places where the general road condition doesn't allow for buses, but this means it can be a cosy journey when the group is almost full. We find this is a great way for the group to bond and share an amazing journey together and there will be stops along the way to take photos and stretch your legs.

Excellent trip. 17 days was enough but would have liked to see the other 2 Stans. Our Trip Leader, Xenyia, was amazing and so professional. Highly recommended this trip as a good introduction to Central Asia ancient history and more modern history. Loved it!

An excellent tour guide. Nice travel
group… like a small family. There was only 5 of us. Enjoyed my trip. If you do the Central
Asia Explorer, take books etc with you. Lot’s of free time at some spots and the yurt camps don’t have anything to do and there’s nothing around to do on your own.

My tour of 3 of the Stans was amazing. The mountainous scenery was magnificent, much information was provided on the history and culture of the countries and the food was delicious. Importantly, the tour guide was excellent - extremely knowledgeable, kind and accommodating.

The more I reflect on this trip the fonder are my memories. It did feel like a bit of an adventure, as this trip hadn’t been run before, and I think it would benefit from some itinerary adjustments. I really valued the local interactions with the people and cultures of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. I especially liked meeting local women in all 3 countries and hearing their stories and opinions. The nature was stunning - especially Tajikistan. And of course our guide, Lucy, was fun to travel with, always helpful, and smoothed over any problems we encountered on the way

Meerbek was an excellent guide and taught us so much about the fascinating culture of these countries. Great mix of mountain and city time. A great way to explore this area in a short time!

The Central Asia (3 ‘Stan’s’) trip was a great mix of interesting landscapes (snow-covered mountains, river canyons, lakes etc.), historical interest, interesting, and sometimes amazing, architecture, contact with locals (by way of home stays and some lunches - great food - in private homes - all of which was enhanced by our fantastic Tour Leader, Lucy Smith
