Is this trip right for you?
verified
Compared to the other countries you visit on this trip, Costa Rica can sometimes seem expensive. Expect to pay more than you would in other Central American countries for a lot of things.
verified
You cover heaps of ground on this trip, with several border crossings and long travel days. This trip includes time spent travelling in a private vehicle with your group. Extra space can be tight, and conditions may feel a little cramped. Although this can be tiresome, it’s all part of the adventure and a great way to get to know your fellow travellers.
verified
Central America is generally hot and humid year-round. At nighttime and in locations at higher elevations it can get chilly. Protect yourself from the sun, bring light clothing you can layer and a waterproof jacket, and stay hydrated. Air conditioning may not always be available in your rooms. Occasionally, properties may require an additional charge for air conditioning.
verified
This trip can involve a lot of walking. Please ensure you bring sturdy walking shoes and comfortable clothes. To make the most of the trip, it's best if you have at least a moderate level of fitness.
verified
There will be times when you have to walk with your luggage, and for this reason, it is recommended you pack light and use a backpack or something easy to carry.
verified
If you are traveling with a UK passport, a visa is now required to enter Honduras. Please ensure you check the Important Notes and Essential Trip Information for more details.

The Latin America trip encompassed 2 trips into one (33 days). The Mexico and Guatemala first part and then the other Central American countries. It was a superb trip in all respects seeing so much flora and fauna and so many volcanoes as well as many other things on this great trip. Ideal for all ages our tour ranged from 21-68 years old and is suitable for all ages. If you want you can climb and sledge down volcanoes or zip wire through the rain forest or just do a nice gentle tour around the ancient towns or Mayan temples. The price is exceptionally good value for 33 days. The hotels are very good taking into account the places you visit. The 2 guides we had were superb and could not have possibly done a better job so congratulations to both Wilbert and Walter 10/10.

Amazing experience with Intrepid! Our guide, Walter, went above and beyond to cater to everyone’s interests. I’m an animal lover, and I can’t even begin to describe how many incredible creatures we spotted thanks to his unbelievably sharp eye.
Walter was always transparent about prices, how long border crossings could take, and what to expect throughout the journey. He made everything feel seamless, even the most hectic border crossings were handled with calm professionalism. He was also very considerate and supportive of those travelling on a tighter budget.
His positive, curious attitude made every day more enjoyable, and I feel so lucky to have had this experience with him. Highly recommend!

An excellent journey with 11 travelers from 5 countries through 5 countries. Our Honduran guide, Fito, could not have been better. The buses were 22 passenger minibuses, so very comfortable. Optional activities on offer were mostly EXCELLENT, and increased our understanding of the area. Most were paid in US$ cash. The guide arranged group meals for meals not included. .

This is the 3rd Intrepid trip that I’ve completed and the standard of trip and particularly leader/guides has been exceptional. Rodolfo (Fito) was very easy going, approachable knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about the countries we visited with particular emphasis on sponsorship of local programs and sustainability.
Thanx and well done Rodolfo!

The Central American Journey trip offered a real in depth experience of countries which have had turbulent histories and suffered from undue influence/power struggles from. east and west. However the people, landscape and wildlife, and ancient history is endlessly interesting for those prepared to visit and experience the area
