Why you’ll love this trip
Get wild in Jasper National Park, where it’s possible to spot moose, elk, deer, bears and coyotes among the sea of evergreen pine and spruce trees.
Take an included canoeing adventure and camp overnight on the remote shore of Clearwater Lake, where you can fall asleep under a blanket of stars.
See the Athabasca Glacier up close and personal during a walk to the toe of the glacier, an experience that will feel other-worldly.
Enjoy plenty of free time to explore Canada’s premier outdoor adventure hub, Whistler, at your own pace. Hike rugged trails or munch on ‘beaver tails’ – the choice is yours.
See the Rockies’ vast array of striking lakes, mountains and glaciers – no matter what time of year you visit – with a wilderness-loving local as your guide.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip covers a lot of ground so please be prepared for some long days of driving. You'll be travelling in a van with a group, so conditions may feel a little cramped. We think this is all part of the adventure of road travel, and friendships form fast in tight quarters.
Snow may remain on the ground in higher elevations until the end of May. This may impact certain activities such as scenic gondolas, boat trips or mountain hikes, however crowds are much thinner during this time. Your leader will have a range of suggestions for alternative activities to do in your free time no matter the season.
As we're travelling through the mountains, the weather can be unpredictable. We advise wearing layers in all seasons in case conditions change during the day. Even in the warmer months the temperature can be very low in the mountains.
To ensure you to get the most out of the included and optional activities we recommend you are moderately fit. The hikes are a real highlight of this trip and give you access to some fantastic scenery.
This is a participatory trip. That’s a fancy way of saying you’re not just along for the ride – you are part of a team! Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and help with camp activities like food prep and washing up.
That teamwork also extends to our optional food kitty of approximately CAD 20 per day to cover the cost of meals. This kitty saves you worrying about where to get food or sales taxes and helps keep your costs down by bulk purchasing items together to cook. (Though there’s always the chance to use it for the occasional dinner out!) The kitty is optional and for your convenience, so if you've got specific dietary requirements you can opt out and purchase (and cook) your own food.
In 2024, Jasper experienced a significant wildfire, but much of its beauty remains untouched. As we return in 2025, you’ll witness firsthand how nature is beginning its recovery after this important and natural process that is vital to the region's ecology. This is also a crucial time to support local businesses as they rebuild from the fire’s impact. Join us in experiencing Jasper’s resilience and natural beauty while helping the community recover.

Important notes
1. There are no activities planned on Day 1 of the trip so you may arrive at any time. A welcome meeting will be held at 8am on Day 2 in Vancouver. This trip ends on arrival into Vancouver on Day 15 in the afternoon. The arrival time depends on each group, but we generally aim for a 3pm arrival. If you decide to fly out this day, please don't book a flight before 8pm which will give you enough time to catch a shuttle from the hotel to the airport and be there 2 hours before departure.
2. A Single Supplement to have your own room and tent is available on this trip but please note that single tents are limited due to group camping accommodations. Therefore, all single supplements are on request only.
3. A sleeping bag is required for this trip. For 2025 departures if you would like to rent a sleeping bag locally, the cost is $50 CAD, payable in cash to your guide on Day 1 of the trip. Please advise your booking agent prior to departure if you require a sleeping bag rental. Please note sleeping bag rentals will NOT be available in 2026.
4. Please note that In Canada the legal drinking age is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, and 19 in the remaining provinces and territories.
5. Due to the remote nature of the backcountry canoe trip on days 5 & 6, anyone who tests positive for Covid while on trip will not be able to join the group in the backcountry. This policy is in place to protect you and our backcountry guides. If you test positive for Covid during the trip but wish to continue with the group, your leader will assist you with making alternative arrangements (at your expense) for accommodations during the canoe trip as well as transportation to meet the group on Day 7. Please review your travel insurance policy to ensure you have trip interruption coverage included.
6. We are not able to book airport shuttle service for North America trips. North America has convenient taxi and rideshare options from all airports, as well as public transport systems in major hub cities. Please check the joining and finishing point instructions listed in the Essential Trip Information.

The Intrepid Canadian Rockies tour was incredible! Stunning scenery, smooth organisation, and the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Louis made the trip unforgettable - friendly, funny, organised, and also a fantastic chef. The 3 day adventure in Clearwater was my favourite part… Disconnecting from everything and soaking up nature was absolute bliss. A truly special experience I’ll never forget!

I had an amazing two weeks. Our guide, Jules, was always super organized and had great options for us. I’ll really miss his cooking – it was so delicious! Don’t worry about the meals if you have any dietary restrictions – the guide will always keep that in mind. The places we visited were absolutely stunning. I especially enjoyed the canoeing at Clearwater Lake at the beginning. All the lakes we saw were beautiful! I would definitely do the trip again! Just make sure to bring good protection against mosquitoes – there are plenty of them in Golden.

If you like camping, the outdoors, unreal scenes and adventures- then this is the trip for you! Our guide Louis was fantastic- 10/10 recommend doing the food kitty we had breakfast, lunch and a three course dinner most days. Our guide was able to suggest activities suited to our interests and preferences each place we visited. My personal favourites were seeing Peyto Lake, hiking around Whistler Mountain, and Lake Louise! PSA- Bring an extra sleeping mat as the ones provided are pretty thin.

This was the trip of a lifetime - I enjoyed everything about this tour - the itinerary, the locations, activities, camping, people. The long drives didn’t feel long because they were broken up so well and the scenery was amazing. Book the trip!

The trip covers the best Canada has to offer: waterfalls, mountains, glaciers, ice fields, lakes, hiking, canoeing, and wildlife. The trade off for solo travelers joining group tours is it enables you to visit places you could not reach by yourself. Shout out to our guides, Louis and Mathieu, who led us on hikes, cooked for us and were our drivers (they even canoed a surprise birthday cake for me across a lake ! Overall the trip is very good value. Do opt in to the kitty (more practical). Do invest in an inflatable mattress with pump. Also, I was lucky to have met a great group (only 6 of us). The highlights were numerous hikes, white water rafting on Kicking Horse River and Clearwater Lake. I'm still on a residual trip high a month after returning. A trip of a lifetime.

This trip was amazing. Mathieu was a brilliant tour guide. We only had a small group of 5 and it was so much fun. There were so many highlights of the trip. I would recommend many of the optional activities.

If you are not sure where to start and you're looking for an opportunity to discover the most popular and iconic places the Rockies have to offer, book this trip! There are certainly moments when you might wish to stay longer at a particular spot or make an extra stop along the route to snap a photo — and that’s completely normal. But keep in mind, this tour covers a lot of ground. Beyond the stunning scenery and activities along the way, you might also be lucky enough to meet amazing people in the group and tour leaders who go above and beyond to make your trip unforgettable. Thanks to Louis > guide and Mathieu > guide in training, for making this such a wonderful experience!
