Trip Informations
Immerse yourself in ancient sites and breathtaking beauty on this nine-day Cambodian adventure. Start in the hustle of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and then wind your way through cities and countryside to Cambodia, where you’ll learn about the country’s sobering history, discover the laidback culture of the Khmer communities, stay with locals on an immersive homestay and try delicious local eats cooked by your hosts (and at the many markets). Take a river cruise at sunset and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Angkor complex – full of ancient temples, jungle-covered ruins and fascinating landmarks.
Why you’ll love this trip
Enjoy the guidance of a local expert as you temple-hop at the dazzling Angkor complex, one of Southeast Asia's most stunning sights and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Confront the sobering but important Khmer history with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek in Phnom Penh.
Stay with locals during a homestay in Chambok that puts you right in the heart of everyday life in Cambodia. Enjoy a village walk and waterfall visit, then join in for a local dinner and cultural performance.
Watch the sun set over Bokor Mountain on an evening cruise in Kampot – one of Cambodia's most attractive old towns.
Make the most of your free time with hiking, cycling and spa-day opportunities and see all the natural beauty that Cambodia has to offer.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, CRST. Donations help them break the cycle of poverty in Cambodia by inspiring and empowering children with education opportunities.
Is this trip right for you?
This adventure is made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time when your leader will offer suggestions. Please budget spending money for optional activities you want to take part in.
Accommodation is basic – a combination of simple hotels, guesthouses and a homestay. You'll be spending a night with a local family on this trip. While the homestay accommodation is shared, this is a great opportunity to connect with the local people (and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals!). Read more about the experience here:
This trip involves a lot of public transport and some long days of driving so some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment. Sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by and embrace travelling like a local.

The Cambodia Discovery trip was a fantastic way to get to know Cambodia, it's people, and it's history. The architecture is stunning and the Temples are just amazing. The homestay was a great opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture and to learn about what the people are doing to support their communities while building their ecotourism.

Cambodia is a captivating country, and Intrepid's tour led by Muny Noy was exceptional. Muny's personalised approach and in-depth knowledge made the experience truly special. He led us to the best spots, making the trip to Cambodia surreal and unforgettable.

What an incredible, eye opening trip. A great balance of urban city experiences to rural village explorations. The trip supports eco tourism which felt great to give back to the communities. A country filled with kind hearts and triggering history. Cambodia will forever hold a special space in my heart.

Cambodia Discovery is just that - discovering Cambodia including its harrowing history and strength of Cambodians as well as their culture and way of life. The homestay is a great opportunity to see how the locals live - I loved it. Khim is a fantastic guide and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Cambodia with Intrepid 🙂
