Trip Informations
Join an eight-day adventure that takes you from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City through one of the highlights of South East Asia – Cambodia. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Angkor complex near Siem Reap and stroll along the Mekong River at sunset. The rest of the trip is free for you to choose your own adventure! You might reflect on Cambodia's tragic history at the sobering sites of Phnom Penh, visit a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, wander local markets in search of street food or watch a circus performance incorporating Cambodian culture and folklore. Do it all with an expert local leader by your side to bring Cambodia’s history to life and give you the best suggestions for how to make the most of your adventure.
Why you’ll love this trip
Temple-hop around the renowned Angkor complex – one of South East Asia's most impressive attractions. Spend a day exploring the site on a tuk-tuk with a driver from a social enterprise creating employment opportunities for local women.
Stroll along the Mekong River at sunset and discover the charm of Phnom Penh on a guided walk with your expert local leader.
Eat well wherever you go – there's no shortage of mouth-watering food markets to explore, whether you’re grabbing a bite in Bangkok's Chinatown or tucking into a banh mi in Ho Chi Minh City.
Make the most of free time at each destination and customise your journey – you might visit the Chong Kneas floating village, learn about sobering history at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum or simply relax and do some people-watching.
Top and tail your Cambodian adventure with time spent in two of South East Asia’s bustling hubs – Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City – with the option to extend your stay in both cities.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip is designed for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group to share the experience with. The itinerary has plenty of free time where your leader will suggest optional activities. Please budget spending money for these activities and transport to and from them.
This trip involves a lot of public transport and some long days of driving, so some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment here. Sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by and embrace travelling like a local. We recommend packing light as you’ll need to be able to carry your own luggage on and off public transport.
This trip doesn’t spend a lot of time in Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City. We highly recommend spending more time in both eclectic cities. Please speak to your booking agent if you are interested in extending your stay.
If you have more time and would like to see more of South East Asia, you may want to consider the longer adventures - Cambodia & Vietnam Experience ( search: TKRNC) or Simply Southeast Asia: Chiang Mai to Hanoi (search: TTRTC).

Go, you won't be disappointed. Such a varied trip, from Temples, Big Cities to small isolated homestays. It went so quickly, always doing something new and interesting. Learning about the history, the food and the culture. Felt so alien coming home, in a good way. Plus, if you have Bo as a guide you are in very good hands, he is amazing.

Our guide was the best ever - she showed us her country in the best way possible and behaved like a true ambassador. Despite a couple of difficult guests, she made our trip beautiful in every way.
