Is this trip right for you?
verified
The Cocora Valley hike is quite rigorous, so you'll need to be fit and have sturdy walking shoes. If you'd rather relax, you're free to opt out of this activity and soak up the scenery at your leisure.
verified
Colombia enjoys a stable year-round climate, but it can get particularly hot and humid in the north. Be sure to drink plenty of water and wear adequate sun protection, especially in Cartagena on the coast.
Itinerary
Experience the beauty and vibrancy of Colombia
Head into the serene highlands of Colombia's famed coffee region and discover the sweeter, softer side of this misunderstood country. Learn how to roast the perfect blend during a tour of a working coffee plantation, be entranced by the laidback pace of Salento and maybe explore the nightlife of Medellin. Then, trade the country's lush interior for its coastal spoils and wind the adventure up in oh-so-romantic Cartagena – UNESCO World Heritage site with much to explore.

I had an amazing time on this trip to Colombia, learning about the country, its history, geography, food, people and traditions. The picturesque hike in Cocora Valley and the introduction to coffee production process at Hacienda Venecia were my personal highlights. It was also interesting to meet representatives from local communities in Medellin and Cartagena. Big thanks to our tour leader Fonz for his insights and enthusiasm throughout the tour.

This trip is the perfect way to get to know the beautiful country of Columbia, its people, culture and nature. The trip was a good mixture between these 3 but I would have loved to have stayed in nature much longer! Our guide Hernand was an excellent leader of the group and I felt very safe all the time. For everyone who is still hesitant about going to Columbia: Do it! We have had the best time and learned that this country is not only about drugs, crime, and Narcos. It is so much more and I will definitely be back!

This was our first time on an Intrepid Tour. We wanted to visit most of the locations that were on the Cafe Colombia trip so this tour was an excellent choice for us. We had an amazing time, felt safe and met great people. Our leader was superb.

The Cafe Colombia tour was nothing short of magical and I wish I could go against just to experience it for the first time! I was a little apprehensive about safety but I did not at a single point feel unsafe. Santiago, our guide, is one of the best that I’ve ever had, and the people welcomed us everywhere we went. Without a doubt a trip I will never forget and my goal is to convince all my friends and family to go!

A brilliant trip - short at only 9 days but you pack a lot in. The guides are amazing as is the countryside. The coffee estancia is definitely somewhere I would love to visit again.
