Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the Bungle Bungles – a unique orange and black striped 'beehive' formation that is more than 20 million years old.
Take a guided tour of Mimbi Caves with a local Gooniyandi guide and explore one of Western Australia's largest cave systems.
Visit the sacred Cathedral Gorge surrounded by birdsong and the towering red rock walls of the gorge.
Join the Darlgunya Cultural Walk. Stroll through the remnants of the old postal settlement and learn about the wild Fitzroy River.
Search for freshwater crocodiles, local birdlife and indigenous bushtucker at Windjana Gorge – an oasis in the outback beneath gorge walls rising 90 m.
Is this trip right for you?
This is a camping trip for those who are looking for the basics. Simple facilities and lack of emphasis on creature comforts make this an authentic experience of the Australian outback. All of the camping equipment you need is provided, including stretcher beds and a mattress to sleep on, 190cm high tents, comfortable camping chairs, linen and a pillow. All you need to bring is a sleeping bag (or purchase one from us for an additional cost). A Single Supplement is not available on the default version of this trip. As a single traveller, you will have a tent to yourself on camping nights however, in the remote Bungle Bungles permanent tented camp (Day 2 and 3) you’ll be paired up with another single traveller of the same gender. An accommodation upgrade (Camping Plus) is available upon request and subject to availability at an additional cost. Camping Plus can also be booked with the option for a single supplement. Please see the accommodation section of your trip notes or speak to your travel agent for more details.
On some days of the trip, you’ll spend several hours driving through very sparse areas of Australia. Sit back and enjoy landscapes that you would miss in any other form of travel. Extra space can be tight, and conditions may feel a little cramped. There will be some very early mornings.
This itinerary involves some clambering over rocks, wading in water by torchlight, walking on rocky creek beds and ascending/descending into gorges. A reasonable level of fitness and being sure on your feet is necessary to participate.

Itinerary
Enter the extraordinary landscape of the Kimberley, Australia's wildest region
A place of astounding natural beauty and great spiritual significance, Western Australia's Kimberley region is Australia untamed. While the roads here can be rough, this five-day inland adventure takes in several of the Kimberley's highlight attractions, plus a whole host of lesser-known favourites. Weave through the boulders and chasms of the Bungle Bungles, encounter Dreaming stories in the Mimbi Caves and learn the legend of Jandamarra on a tour of Tunnel Creek. LUGGAGE
Space in our vehicles is limited so please keep luggage light – bring only essentials in a small soft bag, MAXIMUM 15kg. Suitcases are NOT suitable. Excess luggage must be left in Broome or sent to a forward destination.
PARTICIPATORY CAMPING
It is important that travellers participate in setting up camp each night, though the leader can assist where necessary. The leader also appreciates the assistance or one or two group members in preparing/clearing meals. It is essential that all our groups leave the camp they stay in as they found them for the next travellers - the Kimberley is a pristine wilderness and it is our responsibility to ensure it stays this way.

This is my second time to travel with intrepid. I love the budget friendly tours and the well informed, experienced tour leaders. I feel safe in transportation, and find the accommodation comfortable though basic. Fellow travellers are friendly and interested in discovering more about the locations visited. The meals are excellent and provide good serving sizes. The freedom from having to plan day to day details and meals is a great way to relax and just enjoy the trip!

Our trip to the Bungle Bungles was everything we had hoped for. Our tour leader Tex and Nel did an amazing job in guaranteeing our safety and explaining the history and culture of the region. The meals they prepared were a credit to how well organised they were in a very busy schedule. Be prepared for long distances some days

An unforgettable Bungle Bungle adventure! The stunning scenery, our fantastic guides, and delicious camp meals made every day special. Yes, there was plenty of bus travel and some bumpy roads, but regular breaks and walks kept spirits high. Basic but comfortable campsites rounded out an incredible experience in the Kimberley.
